Tottenham boss Tim Sherwood says his team would have earned a Champions League spot if he had been in charge all season.

Tim is right except that the board of directors would have found some other way of f*&c%n^ it up .

Dan Levy might actually have learned his lesson and decided to persist with Tim .

Tim deserves it and I hope Danny doesnt blow it .

Jeez what a dumbass thing to say. If he still had any hope of keeping his job he's just blown it with that comment.
Just embarrassing.

I think the way Tim handled that situation with the fan today and how he handled the Sandro situation showed the foundation of a real class manager. He got us into Europe next year in 6th place which is a very commendable effort which needs to be applauded.

I am a fan of his and no matter what happens, I thank him for the what he has given to the club in the last 6 months.

I still say that unless we get a clearly proven upgrade, we should give him the chance to have a pre season with players he wants and see how he can improve on this year.

Remember, no matter what happens next year we will probably end up 6th again. City, Chelsea, Arsenal, United, Liverpool are bigger teams than us. Everton and us will scrap for 6th. If we do get to the same position under some genius new big name manger as we did under Tim, I wonder what a lot of people on this site will say.

Cue all the disagreements, dislikes, wtf?! and dohs!

All the various things he's been uttering in the last 2 weeks have only 1 purpose. Make sure Levy fires him in order to collect golden handshake. If he had remained quiet like a good boy, Levy might assign him another post and he would not collect anything but his weekly paycheck.

Sherwood, 45, said: "If I had started the season, we would have been in the Champions League."

Who knows what would have happened but there's a reasonable chance he's right about this. You'd have to be very petty and vindictive to say unequivocally that he's wrong. Don't diss the Tim; it makes you look bad.

His statement, as you have quoted it, seems to suggest that finishing in the top 4 would have definitely happened. He seems fairly unequivocal so I find it a bit hypocritical to argue that we can't be equally unequivocal and say he's completely and utterly wrong ;)

Semantics, @avonspurs. I wouldn't bet my house that he's right and you wouldn't bet yours that he's wrong (although I might bet my bath mat that he's right!). Whatever Tim says is fighting talk from an under pressure manager. Bombastic but not wrong. :)

I'd be willing to bet on him being wrong, but it would mean him being here for a whole season and I don't think I could last through that :( lol

Just a thought, is he saying this based on points per game ratio during his time in charge? If so then thats fair enough imo and Ive taken it out of context.
If not then its the dumbass comment I thought it was to start with lol.

Think the wheels would have come off by about late November/early December time. Then, had he stayed, we'd be bottom half and not top 4.

Unless he really thinks Bentaleb and Kane would fire us over the likes of Chelsea and assnal.

He certainly got us out of a rut of possession football with no product. He may have managed the extra 9 points from somewhere that we needed.

I would say though that he still had a chance and missed it. He cleaned the slate when he took over and did some good things, but you'd say losing to Arsenal at home ("a 6-pointer"), the terrible defending that led us to be 3-1 down at WBA and the loss to West Ham are chances we could / should have taken. Especially after we beat Everton. At that point I was optimistic, though didn't see Arsenal dropping out of the title race so dramatically.

He's not rubbish but he hasn't had enough time to show that he might be better. For him to keep banging on about his win ratio however I think is a bit silly, as it might have been lower had he had a full season.
