Tim Sherwood: I would have got Champions League place

What Tim and a few posters on here seem to forget is that after Tim managed to get us knocked out of the cups within a few weeks of taking over, we were playing once a week. Time on the training ground that AVB didn't have and rest for the players makes a huge difference, ask Liverpool and everton next season.

And the problem with playing 2 games every week when he took over was that he didn't get enough time on the training ground to get his ideas across to the players. Yes Timmy did make mistakes in selections but he was also hampered by injuries. During the March games he had Daws and Chiriches out injured and Kaboul back fresh from 3 months or so out and not having played with Verts more than 4 times. In that situation we were going to get tonked. We also had Sandro at CB for another of the top 4 games.

Timmy has shown that he will learn from his mistakes and, given that the only certainties in life are death and taxes, in the absence of a really top quality manager I would rather keep TS than sign another so - so one.

Why did you dislike my post, @Lufti? Disagree, by all means, but disliking needs an explanation. Then I'll know not to offend you next time.

@Sweetsman ... how was my comment "Spam"? I don't lose sleep over it but I do think people should be held accountable for negative ratings, otherwise it's cowardly.
It was the only negative rating you hadn't mentioned. Why should one be held accountable? You gave your opinion and I didn't think much of it!

Of course they can, although disrespecting a reasonably decent human being is nothing to be proud of. I think what you meant though is that you disagree with me, and you might also have picked up on the jokey tone of the line you quoted.

I loved the article and that Tim still has a sense of humour at the end of the season. He hasn't had long enough to prove how good (or bad) he is as a manager but I hope he'll continue with development of the Academy if he is ousted as manager because he has a keen eye for young talent and the drive to help bring them through if they are good enough to make the grade.

He's had an incredibly sharp learning curve to deal with and has my respect for having the courage to take it on.

No, he has to be removed from the club. Considering the many rumours which talk of how he has been in Levy's ear, which are very plausible, especially listening to stuff like this where he says 'I would have got 4th spot if I was in charge all season', it's clear that he'll undermine any new manager. And can you imagine how unbearable he'd be going on about his win percentage too?

Totally agree......and this is why i do not understand why some Spurs Supporters hoping that Spurs do not get into Europa League next season.....Spurs need to play in Europa League and to play seriously in all competition to shape the mindset of the players (to positive even if it can be "laborous"). This would translate positively should Spurs qualify for UCL in the near future.....And obviously staying in Europe would provide Spurs with better point/seeding for the future.....Well, we shall see how Liverpool and Everton cope next season (this pre season they need to buy well to strengthen their overall squad massively, imho....to do well)

@TriXed. You are perfectly entitled to Disagree and I don't get offended at all, but at least come back with a reason so we can discuss.

Ill thought out comment from Timmeh, again - sure, we might have got Champs league, but considering how quickly he's alienated half the squad, and how frequently he opens his face hole and lets unappealing noises fall out, we could as easily have been relegated with an unhappy team of players.

Stop talking to these rags, they're going after you like they did with Harry - if you stop feeding them they go away.

Can you show me where he has learned from his mistakes? Did he stop playing a high line? Did he put a DM in, to cover the bombing forward FB's that continually left us exposed? Did he stop putting players in unnatural positions, whilst not playing individuals who were made for those positions? Did he keep issues with the players from the press, like the vast majority of good managers do?

BTW, those are more hypothetical questions because I know the answer is 'no'. So, has he learned from his mistakes? No.

On the plus side, I'm sure if you were to ask TS himself, he would agree with me - however, probably because he thinks he has never made any mistakes!

Would he have secured us CL Football ? Cannot definitively say but based on the amount of points needed this season it is unlikely especially with our goal difference. I am happy to let him have dig next season. His desire to succeed is undoubted and he is passionate about SPURS. Not only will the new recruits be better for their 1st season so will he. There is no doubt more beautiful football would be well accepted but 6th is no shame.

Plus the fact that he has not learnt to keep that stinking shit hole of a mouth shut.

On what basis are you concluding that the rumors have any substance?

Also from your comment on how "unbearable" he is, your assessment of his tenure has nothing to do with results and where we finished in the league, but how he expresses himself in public forums. So am I right in concluding that you would therefore want someone who is "bearable" - i.e. someone whose presentation skills meet your approval?

I must say I disagree - I don't give a damn about his presentation skills and judge him purely on what happens on the pitch. Considering the difficult time of year when he came in and where we finished, I think he has done a very very good job in very difficult circumstances and am grateful to him and his team for the effort they have put in to get us into Europe.

His display of arrogance, passion and fight can understandably divide people's views (like for instance people like Mourinho or Van Gaal) but I would not make a calculated decision based on that. Personally, I love the way Tim expresses himself, it's great to see the passion, drive and that toe to toe approach that has reflected in the team as the season progressed. I loved the confrontation with the Benfica coach, his fuming post match interview after the Chelsea game, I've liked his chest thumping of achievements stats (even if they are debatable), I loved the way he has honestly said that he loves the club and its been an honour for him.

For me, having spent much of my Spurs supporting life (since the cup in '91) watching us roll over and letting teams come through, I want a bit of Tim's fighting spirit in our club.

If it isn't to be then I say thank you very much Tim and wish you all the very best (if you don't want to stay on as development coach).
