At least our players will be nice and fresh come the start of the season. And the Arse are providing a broken Wilshere (he's always injured isn't he) and a dodgy Ox. If they start for England we won't be getting out of the group.
English ones. Plenty in other teams

the Spurs owners must have armtwisted Levy into handing out a 5 year contract. They must be now pissed with his hiring and firing. Anyway Mauricio will be gone within 2 years.

Yes, Daniel Levy arm twisted himself :shifty:

If you're going to comment at least have a fucking clue.

Arsenal comments are pretty even handed

Do United have the players to suit Van Gaals system? Would be quite funny if it all goes wonky there. I don't even think him rocking up and whipping his bollocks out is going to have much of an impact, they've had to deal with looking at Rooneys head for years

Are they really that sour about hoddle joining us? We are his boyhood club and he is a club legend, when we came calling of course Glenn was going to want to join, be the same if Matt le tisser was managing us and Southampton came calling, I'd totally understand why he'd wanna leave to join them.

Except le tisser is a spurs fan.

Jumped ship at the first opportunity to a team that are effectively only one place higher than us (I'm taking Man U out of the equation as they will improve) we are better off without people who don't want to be here.

It's pretty galling that it's Spurs that are pillaging us again, I'll be furious if any of our players end up there with him.

Can't wait to play spurs now. Hope we smash them and MoPo is out on his ear within a year when he fails to live up to Spurs' ludicrous expectations...a club who think they are way above that they actually are. They won't get close to CL qual next year as there are too many sides that are simply much better than them and hence Poch will get the AVB treatment before too long.

- SaintsWeb poster James

Went over to see what the consensus was on their forum. Didn't see as much anger as I expected. Much more sensibility than many posters here would have if the roles were reversed. :D

What confuses me is how Saints fans think they're so close to us. Going to be a hard hard season for them next year sadly

I know this sounds big headed but they're just not there yet and if anything will go backwards for a couple of seasons

If Pochetinno is left to do his own thing, he'll have Spurs knocking on the door of top 4. He'll want some assurances before he takes over.

Also, its what he'll do on the training ground, Levy won't interfere there. Its a top appointment.
Pochettino has lots of potential. He's transformed Soton, has them playing good football and their pressing is brilliant. I hope he doesn't go to Spurs.
In previous years I have been the one playing Spurs down on here, but its the other way around on this one.

They've employed someone who I would taken to replace Wenger.

He could be their Rodgers... or Wenger. Great appointment.
Very good manager in my opinion. Spurs have done well to sign him.

Spurs will be a tough nut to crack next year, which makes our champions league fight even tougher.
R.I.P. Managerial career
RedCafe

Had a British manager had the same season with Southampton I don't think he'd have been considered for the job.
Pochettino will I'm sure have them playing some nice stuff, a good team, beating a few of the big boys, and thereabouts, but Spurs are basically always 'thereabouts', so I suppose that's really par for the course. Ultimately top 4 is overachieving relative to their resources, and it's only ever going to come in isolated patches. I suppose Pochettino (or whoever) could perhaps build a side like Rodgers has done at Liverpool, but even then you need to get lucky with some unpolished gem like Suarez turning into a world class player on you. And Bales/Suarezs don't come along that often.

I Completely agree with the above underlined statement. This is the only thing that makes me worry!

But I have faith COYS

I can't see why people are calling him disloyal. Unless I'm missing something and he said he is 100% staying at Southampton. I'm sure his line has always been "we'll see come the end of the season". Surely, they've got to be realistic and accept the pecking order that is football. We've lost players to bigger clubs, it's going to happen. If Poch becomes a revelation it's only natural for him to want to move up and I wouldn't begrudge him for it. I'm only pissed off when players commit their undying loyalty to the club, only to fuck off 5 minutes later.
So if he is a huge success with us you would wish him well if the likes of Barcelona or Real Madrid came calling?

Spuds forum and even Levy are refering to MP style as free flowing attacking football that Spuds are known for .....ermmm Poch plays possession pressure football !!

Hence why we dont score many goals and dont concede many , having the ball is everything .

There is going to be some very disappointed Spuds fans , and there chairman it seems

yeah enjoy watching Michael Dawson & co passing the ball back & forth in ur own half, spurs fans! Mugs.

The Mirror is reporting that he's after Lallana. I'm glad the argy t*sser has gone now, so we can get someone decent in.
We were playing good attacking football before he came along; it was the defending he improved, but at the expense of us scoring less goals.
It was also Adkins squad he inherited, so I don't think we're doomed without him.
I'll be very interested to see the team he picks for Europa league games LOL, and frankly the odds of Spurs getting Champions League is the same as it always was - zero.

Well I'm glad the Argie tw*t has gone. Clearly he had no intention of staying at Saints so we are best shot of the tw*t. Whilst we played fantastic possession football we failed too many times to convert that possession into wins. We lacked a plan b and a cutting edge. We now need the board to act quickly and appoint a quality Manager to build upon the excellent foundations. No player should be sold until a new a manager is in place.
Two things for next season: Finish above the Spuds and see the Argie sacked by Christmas! Now that would make me smile!

Our biggest problem was in the last quarter of the pitch. We had possession and chances but failed to convert them far far too often. Last season was ruined by having an ineffective striker in the form of Osvaldo. Imagine if we had had a proper one who wanted to play here and actually converted chances?

I do like how these Southampton fans think Pochettino could have many more PL goals out of these players than he got this season:-

Lambert - 13 goals
Rodriguez - 15 goals
Lallana - 9 goals

That's almost 70% of the goals scored by the entire team, and IMO looks like a very good goal return for those players. Even if Pochettino's style of football turns out similar to AVBs (please god no!), we spread the goals out far more evenly under him which he didn't have the benefit of. That also looks like a much better optimisation of their output than we got from everyone except Bale under AVB.

I seem to feel they also miss the notion that they've only just arrived as the 8th placed team and have not always been there.

Hell yeah because success at Spurs is winning silverware, silverware brings money, money brings better players, better players bring better potential replacements.

Yeah, I don't get that either. It seems that everyone thinks we're like Villa or Everton, that we've fluked Premier League survival every year, we're making no money, have built nothing and should have no confidence or expectations higher than avoiding relegation.
