RE Algeria and Costa Rica, agreed.

RE Greece, even accounting for my complete bias, who deserved second spot more? Japan, who failed to win a single game, or Ivory Coast, who Greece completely outplayed (before completely outplaying Costa Rica).

As for USA, I think they're receiving as much praise as they are because their performance is contrary to the perception of them as a nation who don't give a shit and don't really understand football or what it's about.

I suppose you're right about Greece. Bloody hell that group was a sack of shit other than Colombia when you think about it.

Ivory Coast should've coasted it when you consider the players they have, they were very disappointing.

And before anyone else gets on my back...I still don't think England would have got out of it.:)

Ha, sorry if it seemed I was having a go, I've just been touchy about the view taken of a Greek team that most Greeks are very proud of and it spilled over.

The US will be interesting to watch in 2022 or 2026. You will see more and more athletes like Yedlin and Julian Green that probably won't have the technical ability of teams like Brazil and Germany, but they will be as athletic and more fit. I don't think we are too far away from the expectations being QF and an occasional semi final for the US.

I'm so glad to see Greece finally in a position their football ability justifies. Every tournament whether qualifying or finals they get an easy group and it cements their seeding.

I'm Welsh and in the last 12 months we have shown how easily manipulated, with a few favourable results, the co-efficient/seeding system is.

So their high seeding is nothing to do with the fact that they've actually managed to win a tournament since the last time England even managed to get to the quarter finals?

They bored there way to the title. They have never played a game worth watching. I?f you look back at their groups they have easiest groups of any nation. They will not be missed at the Euros. How they are still ranked 44th is beyond me.

Maybe they fiddled these numbers the way they fiddled the number for entry into the Euro.
