Kroos would be a very fair shout, was very good overall, had an excellent game against the brazilian clowns and I'm not saying Schweinsteiger was MOTM every game, but from that Ghana game where Germany struggled without him and were losing until he came on, throughout the tournament he was a constant driving force and played crucial roles in their hardest games (France and Argentina). I think Kroos was able to play better when/because Schweinsteiger was playing.

It's really hard to single out a single German player as so many of them were so consistently good without outshining their team mates. Even Boeteng and Howedes had good tournaments (once Boeteng was moved to CB).

There is a fuck of a lot to admire about this german team. I don't think Low was right to play Klose, I would much rather play Muller as the CF and have Gotze, Drexler or Reuse (when fit) in there. But they have a wonderful balance of skills all over the pitch, have a great work ethic, press cohesively off the ball, are very quick in transition at times, and constantly look to be on the front foot. They are like the international Dortmund deluxe.

Agree, none spectacular, but the team ethic and work rate is unreal.

Well deserved champions in my opinion, with a team that fully understands it's job, and how each individual fits into the overall objective.

I am still baffled how Messi won the best player award - was he bollocks, he even looked embarrassed by it.

I agree about Klose....would not have been in any of my starting 11's for Germany, good sub to bring on when others are tired but not a starter.

Yeah. It was a shame that Gomes was injured and unable to make the team. Would have liked to have seen Kießleng in the squad too, but we all know that Lowe doesn't like him. Same goes for Smelzer. Benter brothers were a big miss too, would have been there instead of Kraner and Mustavi I would imagine

I've only just seen this now. There is no way on earth he was the best player in the tournament. I wonder how much his sponsors paid for him to get that? Starting to back up my thoughts that C.Ronaldo has been hard done by in not winning the Balon d'or

Yip, couldn't quite comprehend it last night, but he won it...

Muller or Rodriguez would have been my choices, and may others ahead of Messi.

I was shocked when I heard that earlier. Just seen pics of him collecting the award and he looks so embarrassed. You wouldn't really give a shit about it after losing out in the final, would you? Besides, the best Argie at the tournament was Mascherano.

Rodriguez was a revelation for me. Thought he really deserved it considering his age, his wonder goal, and being top scorer.

Messi created the most chances for the tournament and had the most successful take ons. Don't think he was the best overall but he had a very good tournament. In 4 games he was clearly MOTM.

He seemed to be touching his hamstring a lot yesterday, I wouldn't be surprised to hear he is injured at the moment.

Just laying it out there, I just hope that Neymar wasn't injured here, so it would be a different story.
