Here we go: The judging of players after some fucking pre-season games.

I can understand some people being angry with Dawson as he's not been very good for a long time but Townsend, with good coaching, can be a very good player (Poch even made Lennon look good FFS). Townsend has only been here one season remember, and it was one of the most chaotic seasons for a long time.

did anybody notice the change in formation in the 2nd half? tom carroll was the only DM and holtby was played further forward. probably why carroll was so isolated when he had the ball. ceballos will be awesome. just needs to make a better decision on when to pass or shoot.

1st half - very impressive, 2nd half - meh. Walker should be seriously worried about his place in the team, Fryers needs loaning out, Dawson and Rose need to leave asap.
He has just came back from injury and didnt even do anything wrong for those 45minutes, why are you suggesting that?

The American commentator is hilarious ... USA embarrassed to lose to Belgium and the injury to Altidore ruined the USA's hopes lol
That's genuinely how a lot of us feel. We lost our shape without our target man Jozy and couldn't find an outlet pass, causing endless waves of pressure from pretty much all our opponents. Embarrassed isn't the right word, but we are definitely disappointed. That was a winnable game, even if Belgium are a vastly superior team talent wise.

For yall hating on Twellman, all I'll say is he is a very good MLS commentator. Knows the ins and outs of the league, which is pretty dang difficult when you consider the ridiculous amount of strange regulations, better than anyone. Other than MLS matches, though, he's not great. For USMNT games, he just comes across as bitter and overly critical, as do pretty much all our former players. His knowledge of European soccer is general at best, so I'd have preferred Kasey, who at least played for us, to have done all our games.

As for the game, great first half. Loved the pressing and movement from the attacking quartet. Second half was definitely disappointing. We missed Capoue; carol just couldn't play that role effectively. Dawson and fryers were exposed by a bunch of players that were recently playing in the USL, our third division, so that doesn't bode well for their futures in this squad this year.

1st half very nice football with Capoue and Lamela especially good. 2nd half ... ermmm ... well it speaks for itself when Danny Rose was probably the best player .

First half XI did really well, Holtby and Walker did well enough in the second half and we still have Vertonghen, Sandro, Chiriches, Dembélé, Chadli, Bentaleb, Lloris, Adebayor and Paulinho to rejoin the team. Sell Dawson and get a centre back or two and I think we'll do just fine next season.

Because he didn't have the best of seasons in 2013/14 and Naughton has played very well at right back.

You said this a few pages back lol:

'I just can't see Carroll making it at Spurs.'

only disappointed with Daws. I know its a friendly, but with his experience he should be bossing that box. Instead he looked clueless for the second game running. Its safe to say the Verts is our only reliable CB at the moment. Pretty scary. And thats not just based on the 2 pre-season friendlies - the warning signs were there last season.

He didn't even look good in the Championship. Townsend has looked good in the PL. I'm not basing my opinions on pre-season games.

Only bit of a banter.

Townsend hasn't looked good in the League yet, not for us anyway. He looked good in a few games for QPR...but he has a long way to go in my mind, a long way to go.

Said the same last summer and saying the same now.

2 months leading to MOM performances for England? Don't act like they didn't happen..

He was awful last season. What was it, 1 goal (cross shot and 0 or maybe 1 assist).

According to his stats, some say 0 assists, others say 1 lol

i though kaboul looked good today and with chiriches and vertonghen to come back id say we need 1 cb. Fryers doesnt have the positional sense or awareness to be a top cb it seems.

The fact that as soon as capoue went off we looked awful heightens our need to keep sandro imo. think he'd be good in this set up with all of the creative players so eager to collect the ball

Don't like the Townsend bashing. Yes he has his faults but if he can learn there may be a very effective player there. Don't forget if he had stayed fit last season he would of been at the World Cup.
