I'd be staggered if anyone paid close to what we did. I know it's a highly unpopular opinion but I don't think he's going to be anything close to a major success for Spurs in the PL.
And you've gathered that from 9 games?

If they have offered that it's a no brainer, have to sell.
You were right about the having no brain part. You would have to completely be lacking one to sell him.

The fact that we now have Pochettino who I think clearly rates him by slapping him in at number 10, there is no way Levy would sell for any less than we paid.

Why the fuck couldn't they bid for Soldado instead?

Indeed. Soldado will probably be here for a few more seasons and have very little sell-on. I was hoping we'd get a £20m reprieve from someone like Atletico or some other Spanish club that still seems to think he's great.

He's obviously not a terrible footballer. But cracking input (y)

Thanks. I'd say for the money we paid he's pretty damn awful: no pace, little strength, not very tall, not particularly skillful and can only score goals from six yards out. Whoever pushed for this signing behind the scenes should be shot quite frankly.

In fairness to haydsmith he'd sell any or all of our crappy players for less than we paid because they're all so rubbish they got Timmy the sack and deprived us of potentially one of the all time great managers.. and for that he will never forgive them, especially injured Lamela..

Because what we needed when we signed him, was someone to score from 6 yards. We had players putting the ball into the "corridor of uncertainty" and our strikers didn't have the movement or instinct to finish those chances.

Your description above is basically that of Klose.

I think like Giroud the year before, Soldado will benefit from a season in the prem and most importantly, a full pre season with the club. A goal in the first couple of games and who knows where his confidence could take him.

I keep saying it but it strikes me as a committee signing. Someone we had been chasing before when we had a different manager and a different way of playing etc.

If we were going to play with two strikers, affording him more space and time (like he got in la liga) then I could understand persevering with him. Playing the way we do, he needs to be a focal point. Or at the very least have the pace to get away from defenders.

Anyway, this should really be in the Soldado thread and Soldado has become the marmite of SC. I think the two camps could have a month long conference and not convince the other side of their arguments.

this doesn't point to him being a terrible footballer though. That was my problem.

I remember when we were linked to Soldado, it was an absolute wankfest on here.

He wasn't injured until much later in the season. It wasn't just Sherwood who didn't play him either-AVB constantly chose to ignore him. But we all know better than both don't we? I want him to do well, just calling it as I see it and certainly not getting carried away by a couple of decent performances against MLS teams.

The sell-on will be irrelevant if he performs for us over the next couple of seasons, which I believe he will.

Um...
Sorry, but no.
Not best start, but that doesn't make someone a poor footballer. Given... new league, turmoil with manager ,sold best player, wife had miscarriage, Tim Sherwood... yeah, easy to settle into giving your best football.
