I wan't Vlad to have his chance but really think we need to sign one more quality CB as depending on how our season goes, Jan could possibly be off, Kaboul's injuries don't seem to be easing up, Dawson is unlikely to still be here and Fryers/Dier will need someone with experience next to them. This could quite easily result in next seasons starting CB's being Musacchio and Chiriches which on the face of it would tick a lot of boxes. I think realisticly Vlad needs to play backup for one more season starting all the cup games when fit and providing cover in the league as needed.

If we sign this guy up, I will be very suprised if someone after this coming season would be unhappy with us putting £20M at the table for him.

He is very good. You can never be sure he'll do as good here as in Villareal but, with that thinking, we're never going to be able to bring class-players. Him and Jan have the potential to be the league's top CB-pairing.

If Villarreal only own 30% of Musacchio, what gives them the right to reject bids? He'll be stuck there forever if that is the case.

Would much rather have koscielny than verts and I am deadly serious.

I'd rather not see us score own goals and receive red cards on a regular basis. But that is just my opinion. He performs in the big games but throws away a hell of a lot of games for club and country. Overrated.

Last year, our first choice back line was Walker-Dawson-Vertonghen-Rose

How many games do you think they started together?

How about the number of games where Vertonghen and Dawson started together as CBs?

When you figure out those answers, you'll understand why its important to have quality depth for any team that has ambitions.
For those of you scoring at home:

6 games with our preferred back line

11 games with our preferred CB pairing.

The spanish article doesn't say that. It says that the manager didn't put him in any of their friendlies. Then it goes to say that Musacchio, and Aquino (another player likely to leave) returned to training after not doing so the last couple of days.
To make it short, Musacchio IS training with the rest of the team

I love it when the media simply starts reporting what other media are reporting, and then the story picks up legs as if something new is happening.

And those 6 were probably our heaviest defeats! Hence the need to bring in a quality cb.

Sorry to disappoint - 13 points: Crystal Palace (3), Swansea (3), Arsenal (0) [0-1 defeat], Norwich (3), Hull (1), Everton (3)

2 goals conceded in 6 games. 4 games under AVB to start season, last two under Sherwood.

Don't agree at all, koscielny is the fastest defender in the prem bar none and has matured into a real ball winner who's also good in the air and brilliant at blocks and interceptions, would suit our system down to the ground and I hope this new fella if he signs has all the same attributes.
