Many of us who don't get to watch games like to read of SC members player ratings and find them very informative. I've not started this before and it probably needs a poll too.

Look forward to your views.

I think there are about 7 people who paid to get a good stream, so good luck getting semi-valid ratings. In general when the subs came on - play improved.

I saw the highlights and Lamela was on fire, which is hardly surprising because that pitch was in a shocking state, he is our best close touch dribbler. Lamela is suppose to be a good futsal player so a shocking pitch like that would of been no issue

I know Lamela is the common answer because of the two assists and a very strong 20 or so minutes, but I would actually pick Kane. He was extremely good and if not for strong goalkeeping + bad reffing could have gotten more.

I watched the good stream. Not the best $13 I've ever spent.

Lloris - 7 - Can't do anything about the goal, didn't have much else to do.
Naughton - 5 - Not his best performance, struggled a bit in general. I think he's a solid player, just not his day.
Dier - 7 - Solid, can't remember him doing anything wrong.
Vertonghen - 4 - At fault for the goal, good besides that.
Davies - 5.5 - Some intelligent moments but didn't do much with the ball and beaten in defense more than once.
Bentaleb - 6.5 - Played some outstanding long passes but was a little slow in getting the ball forward. Made some important tackles, was constantly isolated by Holtby/Paulinho.
Paulinho - 3 - Just not good enough. Needed to be stronger in the play that led to the goal (though it wasn't his fault, let's make that clear). I'm not one of the people that slates him for no reason, he simply didn't play good today. At least he tried to get forward though.
Holtby - 2.5 - Same shit as always. Lots of running, not even a hint of end product. Slowed the game down a ton with all his backwards passes, can't even remember a through ball attempt. Extremely poor positional discipline (along with Paulinho - couldn't even tell which one was supposed to be in the CM2 half the time. If I have to watch him "run 50 yards to the CB, receive a pass and immediately pass it back, then run away" one more time.....
Townsend - 2.5 - Absolutely useless. Andros is a great player to have when he doesn't feel like he has to be the star (like v West Ham). Today he felt like he had to impress his Cypriot family that had never seen him play and tried to be a one man team, was absolutely awful. Not a single correct decision, never even beat his man.
Kane - 7.5 - He disappeared a bit in the second half, but was very good today. Smart passing and movement, good dribbling, got some good efforts on goal away. Goal was fitting for his effort.
Soldado - 4.5 - Things didn't seem to go his way today either. Don't think his miss was that bad as he simply couldn't sort his feet out in time. Played in a team that was incapable of even creating a chance for 75 minutes, so hard to blame the striker. Some decent holdup play but looked uninterested at times. That being said, he took his goal brilliantly and I'm hoping it gives him a big confidence boost as we move forward. Looked a lot better when Lamela came on.
Chadli - 6 - Wasn't great in the first couple of minutes but as the game progressed and he settled we finally had an option on the wing. Was involved with the attacks and did way more than Holtby/Townsend combined.
Dembele - 6 - I didn't really get his role as he seemed to just do the same thing as Bentaleb - collect the ball and distribute it - but I suppose he did well. Definitely an upgrade on Paulinho today, we did seem more in control.
Lamela - 8 - Changed the game, simple as. Two great assists, came on running and that energy seemed to wake up the team. We'd have lost 1-0 if he hadn't been subbed in. Really should have taken his two goal scoring chances though to put the tie to bed.

Thought on one of Lamela's goal scoring chances, he should have passed to Soldado.

I like Holtby, but I have to agree that when he does the pointless "run 50 yards to the CB, receive a pass and immediately pass it back, then run away" it winds me up too. We have a few players that pass straight back to the player that passes to them without either player moving and I hate it, what is the point?

I really hope to see combinations following combinations in the next few games:

Soldado
Eriksen Kane Lamela

Soldadlo
Chadli Eriksen Lamela

Soldado
Chadli Kane Lamela

watched it as well...dont agree with the harsh ratings above but the comments are reasonable.

8 - Lamela
7 - Kane
6 - Dier, Naughton, Dembele, Chadli, Loris, Bentaleb, Soldado
5 - Vertonghen, Holtby, Paulinho
4 - Townsend, Davies

Frustrating game. They snapped at us and the pitch was awful. Calamitous defending between Jan and Paulinho resulted in well taken goal. Dier looked solid. A player you dont see during the game which means he is there and is doing his job. The other Belgians were fine but looked off the pace a little as you would expect. I thought Andros and Ben were poor. Andros was trying too hard again. He needs to conserve energy and try not to be Mr. Onemanteam. Ben Davies has no pace and when he is turned he cant pick up his man. A Dawson at LB unfortunetly. Lamela and Kane outstanding. The young Argie lad is brilliant. But he needs to show up in the PL and its only a matter of time before he embarrases a team badly on the pitch. Kane looks like a big lump these days. The lad has filled out and picked up a bit of pace. Going to be a star in the not too distant future me thinks. He has it all. Smarter then the average CF.

Thanks you guys that's great.

I'm just about to finish a championship winning season myself. Due to certain circumstances we didn't have much of a pre season and I would not call what Spurs did sufficient either especially with players not back from the World Cup.

We spent the first several games sorting ourselves out and finding where we really needed new players to come in and were able to bring four in to get what was needed.

Poch does not have that luxury. He will be finding out about his players and will know who is best first choice in certain positions but very soon he won't be able to go in to the transfer market like we were able.

I'm not sure whether my team could have won it without at least 3 of the players I brought in during the early weeks if the season. We start early April and can sign players up to 30 June and in certain circumstances can bring players in all season.

So it's not the best situation for Poch. Yes Spurs have a lot of good players but it's not until you see them under pressure in games that you can tell for sure. Training doesn't sort that out.

Spurs squad is good enough for EPL but top four ?

Poch needs to be given two transfer windows.

Exactly the reason I didn't want us to sign him. I hope I am wrong about him.

I was at the game , the turnout from our fans was amazing, over 2000!!, our team not so clever bar one or two.

LlORIS...7......can't be faulted for the goal, looked sharp all night, looked amazed how many Spurs fans were behind his goal.

Naughton..6 nothing wrong, but looked nervous and did little with the ball.

DAVIES...4...On this performance needs to upgrade his game, looks so nervous, maybe needs time.

Dier..7...carried on from Sat, cool, always in the right position and tidy. There will be bigger tests ahead though.

Vert...6...looked like he needed a game , but class is permanent.

Townsend...5 huffed and puffed all night, 10/10 for effort....5/10 for productivity.kept running into blind alleys.

Benteleb...6..sat in the middle and looked ok, but doesn't move the ball quick enough so slows us down.

Holtby..5...see Townsend.

Paulinho...3....shocking....no i'm not kidding ...shocking.

Kane 8....i am not a big fan, but i'm starting to change my mind. Best of our players untill Lamela came on, kept the ball well and made intelligent runs for large parts of the game.Took his goal brilliantly.

Soldado 10 for the goal,,,,4 for the rest of the match...struggled all night and i had just about had enough of him untill that wonder goal, i was sat right in line of where he hit it, the relief on his face was great....i hope he can start banging them in now because he is a proven goalscorer and will came good, i hope its with us.

Dembele..8...came on and took the game by the scruff of the neck....we completely upped our tempo when he came on and we bossed the midfield from then on.

Lamela 9....came on and wow!!!......looked class, AEL couldn't handle him, ok they were knackered by then but Lamela looked a class apart from the stuff we had seen before, clever decisive runs and set up both goals...now we want to see it on Sunday.

Chadli...6...looked interested and gave their RB something to think about, did ok.

All in all great day at the meeting pub larnaca, sun, sea and spurs :)....but overall a poor performance against an average side , AEL fans amazing, loud all game, friendly all day.

But we really do need a few signings judging on what i have seen this game and west ham.

Downing had a 15 minute spell and was pretty anonymous after that. I think Rose just took a couple minutes to settle.

That could have cost us the game had the pen been scored. What is it they say about senderos? He is a world class defender for 88 minutes of every game.
