Hopefully Lennon's near miss on deadline day can help rejuvenate his stagnant Spurs career.

Does anyone think the sort of player we've been signing the past 3 years is anywhere near the quality of Aaron Lennon on a decent day ?
I think he's refering to wingers, not comparing Lennon to Ade, Erikson or Lloris and he has a point.Third Kit '87, post: 4229916, member: 23003"]Striebs I'm not sure I have fully understood what you're saying here? Are you implying that Lennon is BETTER than the likes of Eriksen, Lamela, Ade, etc?

When we were flying we had the whole width of the pitch with Bale on one side, Lennon on the other and with both offering real pace and stretching the play which pulled defenses here there and every where. It worked not just because of Bale but the system.
The minute AVB came in that stopped leaving no space for Lennon to exploit because play was so slow and compact rendering his strengths useless. Even Bale was reduced to blasting it from 30 yds as he couldnt get in behind as there were 11 men in the box by the time we got in last third of pitch and went mizsing for large chunks of the game.
These Lennon haters forget how many goals and assists he made when we were at our best. Defoe got half his goals from Lennon attacking at pace.
Bale should have been replaced with a fast winger. He wasnt.
What Im saying is if you want to play narrow sell him.
Who have we bought to replace the dynamic Bale and Lennon had? We're playing a different system now (great innit) and while we do Lennon is surplus to requirements imo but a very good player being used incorrectly.
Part of Lennon's drop in goals and assists, is that he has to cover walker too much. Kyle bombs past Arron then loses the ball and has to rush back. This was part of AVB tactical plans. Killed off Arron's attacking flair. Remember when Charlie was RB, always passing the ball into space ahead of Lennon to run onto, and cross for JD, and Lennon cutting in when Bale crossed from left. I remember Arron scoring our wining goal against J Terry when we beat Chavs 2-1 at WHL. Of course Charlie's RB defending was positionally brilliant, which Walker has to learn. Hopefully now MP can get this working again
So, we were ready to let Lennon go 15 mins before the deadline ? And we would've played the 1st half of the season with only 3 wingers ?
This is what you get with a dof imo. That's what I got from that article too. If true, it really does raise questions about our transfer strategy. Letting Holtby, Siggy, AND Lennon go, and not bringing in a single attacking player to replace them?
