Really glad to see Lamela getting some love and people finally starting to see what his strengths are. Yeh he is quite quick and can dribble but that isn't his game. He is first and foremost a creator of opportunities. He does it with his vision. He does it with his work rate. He does it with his movement. But most of all he does it with some quite stunning passing. He sees things that other players don't and not only that he can thread a ball through the eye of a needle.

He is a special player and if he was playing for a more cohesive attacking team, like dare I say arsenal or chelsea, you would see just how special he is.

I would like to see him permanently stationed at 10. He is wasted on the wing. Get him the ball in the number 10 position 20 times in a game and he will create a minimum of 5 chances.

For those of us who haven't seen the game yet, what would you guys give Schniederlin out of 10

They only see him losing the ball.
If they watched his passing and vision, they would see a different player.
He's a strikers dream.

I saw all of those things, I've also seen evidence that he has what it takes to be a top player prior to today's game. I just feel that he's too eager to impress, and at times it's to the detriment of the team.

Found myself really struggling to pick a MOTM, felt it was a good team performance as opposed to one individual standing out. Don't think anyone played bad, but no one played the game of their life either. Capoue or Rose for me, maybe Eriksen for winning the 3 points. Really pleasing performance though and a reality check for Saints.

Thought wanyma looked better. Although, I find it hard to notice the opposition much when we don't have the ball. I focus more on what we are doing off it (pressing, defensive shape etc)

We're still giving opposition too many clear cut chances but Soton were a team high in confidence going into game. I'd give everyone 11 just for getting what was a very important win before international break. We're up to 6th and I don't think we're anywhere near to what we could be yet. All will become clearer around November/December time I feel. Think Naughton and Dier are doing a decent job but tbh I do really miss Walkers pace on right hand side.

Contrary to what a lot has rated, i didnt really see much at all from Mason today. Didnt get himself involved. If it was some other regular player he wouldve got a lowly 5.5 but because he's new some of u guys forgive him n put a higher rating.

Gotta disagree here. Can only think of one pass he misplaced in that match. Nothing incisive in the pass, and his tackles aren't crunching or "clutch," but he did win the ball quite a few times (including some by following his mark behind the back line) and maintained possession in these positions despite tough positions. More signs of maturity, and I think as he gets more comfortable in the side featuring against weaker sides, he'll continue to come into a role such that he can dominate the game with his passing.

I've only seen the highlights, so not going to rate the players but just wanted to make a few comments.

From the sounds of it Ade had a good game and even though he had a hand in the goal and Chadli's chance that hit the post, I can't help feel disappointed that Soldado didn't start or get off the bench. Nothing against Ade but he deserved to be dropped on the last few performances and surely it means Soldado's Spurs career is all but over now.

Every game Lamela seems to go very close to scoring, I think it's only a matter of time before he starts banging them in. I'm also impressed with his through balls (I think Soldado would thrive off these), he does need to improve his decision making but he is only 22.

Eriksen took his goal very well and in the highlights started to look like the Eriksen of last season.

Chadli was very unlucky not to score.

The 3 behind the striker look like they are starting to play well together and saw some pretty good moves between them.

Ade did not have a good game. Much nearer the bottom end of the Ade spectrum than the top. In my opinion by far the worst of our outfield players today, in which I include Harry Kanes 3 min sub appearance.

All the Rose votes leave me scratching my head. He has indeed been playing much better lately, but his positional sense is still non-existent. Idk how many times he thinks he needs to cut inside and risk getting dispossessed while there is a gaping hole on the left. If he could position himself and learn when to hold back he'd be a top LB.

Lamela is another one that is interesting to me. I am admittedly a big Lamela fan, but I think this was an average game for him. He really needs to pass earlier. His dribbling is awesome to watch but when it is for little gain and a simple 15 yd pass could get us out of trouble I wouldn't fault him for taking that option.

One where I'm on the other end of the spectrum is Mason, who I think was much better than in the Arsenal game. He really looks to be getting comfortable. He played it safe a lot against Arse. A lot of our young players have that problem when coming through. It reminded me of Carroll when he was getting a look in under AVB. Always taking the simple, low risk option even when you could tell he spotted a more incisive option. Mason opened it up a bit today from a distribution sense. I'm really looking forward to seeing how he comes along in the next 5-10 games.

Not sure if that's aimed at me Bear, but yeah I think you have to consider that we were up against a good side today...and we're in the early stages of a work in progress.

I think all things considered we showed overall improvement today.

Not aimed at you pal, just a surprise really. Was my first visit of the season and just generally reading the crowd reaction etc and the general vibe on the way home I wasn't expecting such a positive response on here.

We weren't poor 'West Brom' style, thought we were incredibly sloppy in the final third though and that one or two took a while to even get into the game. Southampton are a pretty hard working side but certainly don't see them keeping up the form they've showed so far.

Guess I was just hoping to be more entertained by the experience.
