Lloris made 3 saves? Forester tipped one round the post from Lamela then fumbled a couple of free kicks?
He saved from Lamela and Eriksen both tipped round the post.
Eriksen scored and Chadli hit the post all in the first 45 minutes.
The only save I remember from Loris was from Wanyama in the second half.
Although I concede there could have been more.

SC script No. 144: For when our striker largely creates a goal, and is involved in our other great chance.

If said striker is Adebayor - He did nothing all game.
If said striker is Kane - Play Soldado.
If said striker is Soldado - Fap over it for the next 6 months.
If said striker Soldado had missed chances Ade has, he would be the worst striker ever.
See it works both ways;)

Would you say Southampton had the better chances?

Number of chances was just about even in terms of shots on target. They had the best chance with the Mane one that any half decent striker would have finished but equally we had the one where Chadli was clean through and also should have scored.

But as I have said in previous posts we just about edged it.

Tadic free kick Lloris saved before half time...think it was deflected. Can't think of anything else.

Pelle had a shot from distance just after we scored but I think it was straight at Lloris.

The worrying thing with Ade at the moment is that although his hold up play is good he doesn't actually look like scoring.

Saying that Soldado never looks like scoring, and most of the time he doesnt (even when an open goal has presented itself)

Kane always looks bright and seems to pop up with chances each time he plays which can only be a positive in terms of his movement and positioning in and around the box.

Having been at the game I wouldn't have begrudged them a draw. But if either side deserved the win it was definitely us. And my son in law, who watched in the away section, agreed!
Oh, and Ade was twice as good as Pelle. Not Pele, obviously.

Surprised so many went for Capoue. I don't think anybody was stand out-I voted Eriksen just to see what the vote count was. Capoue was stretching his luck with those fouls after the yellow so I certainly would not have voted for him.
Solid, unspectacular performance but Soton made it easier for us than WBA.
There are more WBAs in the EPL than Southamptons. So this home result with 1 goal scored is acceptable but not promising.

I think it would be appropriate to ask what Ade did?

Kane came on looked hungry, got on the ball however briefly with intent and purpose. It's my opinion that Ade had an awful game, and over 90 mins contributed very little. I don't like saying it, but this is the ratings thread, so I'm rating. My point was that as soon as match of the day finished out came the dislikes, which didn't come out before that was aired. commentators said he had a good game, gave a little feature and then out comes unproptionate disagreement. It just came to me that this might be a reason. Anyhow myself and 4 friends who went to the game, as well as 2 other friends sitting elsewhere all stated how ineffective Ade was, and how when the ball came to him he struggled to get hold of the ball under control. Its just my opinion.

You went to the game but seem to have missed Adebayor making a significant contribution to the decisive goal and setting up Chadli for our best other chance.

You say on more than one other occasion that " it's just your opinion " in a sort of defensive way as if that makes your immune from rebuke. It's pretty much an axiom that people express their opinions in these threads. But when you make absolutist remarks stating that Adebayor was ineffective with the ball and could not control it, you are so self evidently wrong that the fact that it's your own opinion is frankly irrelevant.

I could say that Lloris was awful against Besiktas. Would I have immunity against retort because it's my opinion?

Great post. Ade is our most important player. If AVB had realised that we would not have had 3 managers in a year.

People worry too much.

The whole point of the system is we have an interchanging front 4.

People are so obsessed with this one upfront thing and the truth is, no-one would be up there alone if all of the front 4 were delivering what is expected of them.

It will click. There just needs to be an understanding, from the supporters, of how these things work and what Poch is trying to achieve - this leads to patience and support for the coach.

Yes that's why in the MOM poll, with the exeption of Naughton who went off injured Ade was a firm last. So just my opinion? No the whole of SC voters called the same thing. Look at the early after game ratings, Ade was bottom of the pile.

Cue match of the day...

All of a sudden Ade did well, is our most important striker / player.

In fact in the player poll even Kane got half the votes Ade got. There was a huge shift in opinion once Motd was aired. Most of the voting was early after the match by those who went, watched live on TV or stream.

So while you look at my opinion as absolutist or whatever, read the thread upto the time Motd was aired and you will see a different story.

The poll in this thread shows that it is not just my opinion, but of most people that voted.

I don't understand your point. Adebayor still has only 1% of the vote. How is that a huge shift?
i was at the game. he was ok ish. Certainly not useless. And certainly better as a line leader than Soldado.

It seems your fishing rather randomly for any glimmer of a point. I posted after the match highlighting what Ade had done well. The reason he gets so much flak or doesn't get recognition is that we have ****s supporting the team that have made their mind up about players and refuse to acknowledge when they've done well.

I'm not blind to the fact he has been shit in many many games but we have a massive problem with our supporters in that they value their own opinions too much to concede the odd point / whats staring them in the face.

However to use the poll as some sort of barometer, other than to gauge who was the best player, is even more baffling. I doubt many are saying he was man of the match, but he should be applauded for that performance, he played a crucial role in winning that game.

Didn't 20 people vote Chiriches MOTM in the last game? And 2 voted Kane in this game. Not everybody takes this poll, this board or may I say life so seriously?

Ade problem is his first touch when the ball is played in front of him.
To be blunt it's fucking awful. He's mis controlling it and the chances are being lost.
But against Southampton his hold up play for the goal was superb and the Chadli chance.
Your judging Soldado on last season, he has scored 2 goals this season and hopefully works hard to get a chance in the first team.
Kane has done very well and impressed in certain games.
My only issue is when he leads the line, lim and belgrade.
He had a few chances in the lim game and missed most.
Belgrade, he wasn't that good although the pitch didn't help.
He's plays better behind the striker.
I wouldn't be disappointed if he got a run in the first team.

True.

The same ****y fans that used to sing that ****y Pavlyuchenko song whenever Crouch used to lose the ball have started ****ing doing the ****y Soldado one when it happens to Adebayor.

****s.

I'm generally a pretty negative bastard about most things Spurs related, but I think we watched a different game!
No really, that's the impression I was left with. I thought Wanyama and Schneiderlin looked more dangerous than our CMs while still being effective in their defensive duties, and Mane could easily have scored a couple, particularly that fluffed effort from two yards out. They looked a little better drilled than us and worked just as hard. Statistically, they edged the possession and had as many shots on target. Where we were better was in goal and AM; i.e. Lloris and Eriksen. Could easily have gone either way and had Southampton won it would have been a disappointment but not an outrage.

Re watching the game I felt they had two good attacks Wanyama and Mane. There other attacking opportunities came more from our defensive lapses or indecisions. We out worked them, pressed better, and put some tidy passages of play together but lacked real cutting edge in the final third. Quite a few times our attacks broke down due to miss control. A big improvement on West Brom.

They def didn't outwork us. We were a lot better at stopping them play than the other way round.

I was worried about this game they were coming in with form and being Pochs ex thought they may just ruin our Sunday. But now feeling quite happy that his ideas are starting to come through at least for this game.
