As an editor, don't quit your day job.

From the OS:
"DeAndre has signed a four-year contract and will remain with Sounders before joining us ahead of the 2015/16 season."

When he signed the contract he became a Spurs player, even if he has not yet started.
Who says signing means you instantly become the player of a club? You've no idea what he signed, I'm pretty sure FIFA have more than one type of transfer document. The fact is, all evidence points toward that he is not on loan to Seattle, but that he is with them and he will join us in the future.

Well not that it matters if he's ours or not, but a section of the Wikipedia editorial community, which includes me, have determined that with the evidence we have, he is not a Tottenham player yet and is not on loan and so you will see his Wikipedia article does not reflect that he is. This is because no statement mentions it, just that a agreement has been reached. Here is Seattles statement: http://www.soundersfc.com/post/2014/08/13/sounders-fc-agrees-transfer-yedlin-tottenham-hotspur
Also, he is not listed on our website in the team profiles page, under "on loan". Now, given the usually poor management of our website, I would have suggested that it's just not been updated, but the day after Yedlin was agreed, he made an appearance on that page and the fact that he has since be taken away is pretty telling.
Wikipedia. I'm sorry mate, but really? Wiki? No chance will I ever listen to a work on wikipedia. About as laughable a source as the onion.

He is on loan to Seattle. He is a Tottenham Hotspur player and became one the day he signed the contract.

I didn't say it should be read as fact. Editors have to make assumptions based on the best evidence we have sometimes.

And your source for that? Or usable evidence?

On todays game, from the USMNT writer for ESPN FC

M DeAndre Yedlin, 8.5 -- The best U.S. player all night. Provided the assist on Mix Diskerud's goal, and was active and clever going forward, which he did often from his right midfield spot. Defensively sound, too.

Klinsmann said after he's an option on the wing.

Personally, he was my man of the match. Only reason he wasnt was because of it being donovan's final game. Yedlin was by far the best player on the pitch tonight, IMO.

"Active and clever going forward." Words you wont hear in the same sentence as Aaron Lennon or Andros Townsend, like ever. Lennon's neither. Townsend's active but the furthest thing from clever.

Which is exactly what his Wikipedia article reflects. Nothing contrary to that at all.

Well, lets see, countless news articles from the signing. But I'll give you the most recent one. From a website owned and operated by Dr Creepy (god, his wife is so hot)

unfortunately, in Wikipedia, non official sources cannot be used regarding a subject, where relevant official statements which have been released. These essentially supersede everything else. Of course, in the non-Wiki world, people are free to make there own conclusions, but the fact is, you don't know 100% for sure and neither do I. I ask you, why would he not be named on our roster if he was our player?

I will add, that I admit that it would seem totally bizzare if he was not our player and on loan, as I've never know it to be anything different when a player remains at their current club with a deal agreed to move on at a later date. So it makes sense that you and others have come to that conclusion along with various online reporters like from the article in the link you sent me. But I just have to go by the best evidence I see.

both clubs announced that we have reached an agreement for the transfer of Yedlin. (On both OS's)

Not sure if he has a Work Permit yet, could be why he isnt on the squad list on the OS

Sky says the club wants him in January, apparently? Anyone confirm?
Yedlin has said he is working on his Latvian passport so that he could come in January - so I expect that player and club are working on that angle. If he comes in, someone has to go - it does not necessarily have to be in the back - it could be Lennon and/or Townsend out with Yedlin coming to play as a back-up on the wing.

Isnt he young enough to not need a squad place?

If he isnt, getting rid of a Home Grown player wont free up a squad place for him
