Also I think out scouting on the whole is quite poor, usually we have clear deficiencies each window and we rarely strengthen our weak areas and end up overloaded in certain positions. Four of our 7 buys last summer (Eriksen, Chadli, Lamela and Paulinho) all seem more suited to playing in the no10 position. Did we really need all of them or would we have been better with just 2 of them and 2 wide forwards who actually want to stay wide and stretch teams?
Spot on.
Imo this is what always happens with a DOF.
I hate the idea. They should keep the position ie someone who locates and brings in players but lose the title and change it to Managers Goffer so theres no doubt who's in f in charge. Bring me what Ive asked for or piss off.
There's no way AVB asked for that lot so who is it the club exactly who thinks they know better than the coach???
Shit. Did I just defend AVB?
Apologies lol.

Yea lots of people do like to blame Baldini/Comolli /Arnesen or whoever but the truth is we really have no idea who identifies the players, who approves them and gives the green light to sign them, and whether the coach in charge really wants them or not. The coaches all say it's what they want but fuck knows if they mean it or not. At least with the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool you know the managers /coaches there all have full system over who comes in. Always a grey area with Spurs.

Good point that it's not that much different when we haven't got a DOF.
It's Levy isn't it lol.
Been playing FIFA too much.

Oh just fuck off you piece of fucking shit. You are a twat of the highest order and one of the worst managers we've had. Calling a striker who you never gave a chance not good enough is rich coming from you, you fucking ****. He scored in open play and you relegated him back to left bench immediately.

I hope this imbecile will get named manager of someone soon just so he can get them relegated and everyone will realize he is the furthestthing from a good manager and his results here were simply because we were a good team and had nothing to do with him. Fuck Tim Sherwood. Fuck him.

You're actually right about this, although there's no need to apologize for defending AVB, even as a joke.

Our squad would have gelled a heck of a lot faster had AVB been given the support, players and the end of the season, without the Sherwood/Ade undermining from within.

Sherwood was an unmitigated disaster of epic proportions and putting him in charge was a catastrophic mistake that's put us right back to square one (actually, square ZERO considering we were doing a heck of a lot better at this point last season under AVB).

"In my opinion, Harry Kane is better than him.”

This is the only problem I have. If you remove this line, then everything he says is completely justified and understandable.

But quite simply, Harry Kane isn't a better player than Roberto Soldado. Sherwood has said this to try and rustle a few feathers. Everything he says Spurs related now is to do exactly this. When Townsend wasn't starting, all he wanted to talk about was how Townsend is a real man and should be in the team all the time.

Not in a million years is Harry Kane going to achieve what Soldado has in his career - most notably being a regular goalscorer in the Champions League.

What Soldado has done elsewhere is irrelevant. He has flopped at Spurs, and it is doubtful whether he will ever get his career back on track. Kane however is a bundle of potential who is already delivering the goods. I think he will go onto have a very good career, though sadly I suspect that you are right in as much as that he will not be scoring regulalry in the Champions League if he stays at Spurs.

How about we give Soldado a couple of runs of games in the league before making that call? He did a heck of a lot better than Ade in our last match, despite the deceptive result.

You see your'e even wrong on that point. I have fully supported Soldado, and Ade in equal measure. See i actually go to games and see what they both add to the team as a whole. You only have to listen to Poch to see just how he feels about both of them.

As for Lamela he's a very, very expensive midfielder who has failed to score in fifteen starts for us and was subbed again on Saturday. For thirty million i'd expect one goal, and please do not start on about his "assists". I'd expect someone costing a half of what we paid for Lamela to set up an odd goal or two, such as Mason, Bentaleb or Capoue. Even Lennon can score an odd goal or two.

My "slobbering love" for Sherwood is one of respect for a footballer who has Captained a side to a Championship and has served Spurs well as a player. As a manager if memory serves me correct he took the side to a sixth place finish, and that after a disaster that was AVB. I knew it was a short term appointment but still supported him as manager.

He's now gone and the vast majority on here have moved on, aside from those who refer to the past in order to provoke a reaction. Your'e original post did nothing to the thread and made you look plain stupid.

Your view from a Continent that is so removed from soccer that you think that Sherwood is still relevant. He is not, and his views like Redknapp's or Hoddle's count for absolutely nothing.

There, all this said without a single abusive, foul mouthed tirade.

Easy ain't it?
Getting your facts right before you post helps.
£30 million wrong.
not scored wrong again.
What you expect, I doubt anyone at the club gives a toss what you think.

Sounds fair to me. He played the players who were outperforming him in training and they both scored goals where he didn't.

Michael Owen has always been pretty scathing about Soldado and if there is one thing I'd listen to that guy's opinion on it's strikers that rely on movement and instinctive finishing.

Bizarre. Results improve after Sherwood is appointed and dip after he leaves, and it is Sherwood who is an unmitigated disaster of epic proportions.

In the PL (which was the gist of the thread) he has failed to score in seventeen games. He has though had three assists in eight games so far this season as far as i can find out. Well worth his 25.8 million transfer fee PLUS 4.2 million in bonus payment.

I don't think the Club gives a toss what i think either, so you got one out of three correct.

Wind ya neck back in and look at the facts yourself.

Dude, there's nothing to argue about! Firing AVB when we did and put Sarah Palin in charge totally destabilized us... surely this is evident to even you at this point?

But discussing this for the next 20 years? Yeah... probably... :)
