Which leads to a failure to give him credit where it's due. Maybe I was too scarred by 90s and early 00s mediocrity but I prefer to appreciate the good that he has brought to the team over the last 9 years which has coincided with our most consistent league finishes in decades.

That's entirely your prerogative.

Yes, I would have liked to see 3 central midfielders, tt, but in saying that, I appreciate that our options weren't hectic. Capoue has almost certainly been a very naughty boy, Dembele and Paulinho are surplus to requirements and none of us can be quite sure what the deal with Stambouli is.

Starting Lamela certainly didn't play dividends and it was difficult to see what Soldado could bring to the party, even before we conceded the third.

I don't have an issue with the 4-2-3-1 formation per se-I've been a fan of it for a good few years.

Absolutely agree with that. I think poch sees him as more 'dynamic' and maybe more combative than soldado, but bobby isn't a wimp and can be a nasty fucker and gets stuck in. He is also a fantastic provider and is very creative as well as a goal threat (increasingly).

That was an error by poch yesterday, but the good from that was lamela cut down his tricks and actually played it simple for much of the game, so that was a good little exercise for him. It's gonna take a while for him to simplify his game and then build his tricks on top of a more stable base.

Sure but it wouldn't hurt you or anyone else to be a bit fairer in acknowledging the good and the bad that Lennon or any other player brings without the baggage of agenda and half truths.

I don't know how much longer we're supposed to give Lamela before entertaining the first decent bid we get for him, tt. Were it not for our paucity of attacking options, he'd be picking splinters out of his bony arse.

It's still his first proper season in the prem and he's still trying desperately to justify his price tag. He knows what he can do and wants to show it ALL in every game.

The trick in dealing with a player like this is paring down his game without making him feel his talent isn't valued and he's not being allowed to express himself.

Once he finally gets out of 'got to prove it' mode we will see more assists and goals from him.

He needs to know he isn't a direct replacement for Bale and we don't expect that of him.

I love him, still believe in him and I think it will take this whole season for him to change his mindset properly. I think yesterday was an important step and didn't expect him to cut back on the flanging about so much.

The more we grow as a team and the more confident and capable we become as a team, the less he will feel it's all on his shoulders to make something happen and prove why he was the most expensive buy.

There a lot of things going on with this squad/individual players and all of the creases can only be ironed out with time.

A few weeks ago we wouldn't have dreamed that we could have the level of functionality in our performance like the last two games, but something clicked; poch found the right chemistry; a - probably necessary - mini uprising took place in the squad from true lilly-whites; the training and drilling and fitness conditioning is beginning to flow through this mix of players.

It's all a big process and will take this whole season to resolve into proper coherency and properly inbed itself.

Next season is going to be very exciting imo. I can't fucking wait.

I also think the latter half of this season will be enjoyable, especially in terms of simply loving watching the team play again.

You are right on one aren't you, ps. Kinell mate.

Only a fucking idiot can't see what's going on here and there are way too many on this site atm.

But I suppose negative attention is still attention to some.
Have a look at A and C's post and stop calling me and anyone who does not agree with you an idiot.

One striker has failed numerous times this season and will always fail.

What we have seen this week is a bit more consistency from Poch in team selection. That will surely only benefit us in trying to move the ball quickly which takes time for players to adjust to each other, anticipating what will happen. Lamela for me is still really important. he along with Eriksen can unlock defences and the more they all play together will help. Chadli, Soldado and Lennon all give something different. Paulinho I wish looked right but am not sure. Dembele is too slow but Stambouli perhaps will be a decent player.

Bentaleb though continues to impress and Mason deserves to start until we have someone clearly better. I liked the idea of using Kane on his own up front as he makes things happen which all the very best strikers do. Had his finishing been a little sharper who knows how the game might have panned out but he contributed a lot to the game

We couldn't afford to spend that kind of money and not get a substantial return within six months, tt, let alone two seasons. I think that regardless of however good he might go on to be, he was the not the player we ought to have bought.

Putting his price tag to one side, I am sticking to my guns in saying that we haven't much choice but to persist with him when you look at the lack of attacking options we have.

Dunno what's up with you buddy. Maybe take a day or two off or something, I dunno.

Will talk to you when you turn off of 'hyper-dick'ed' mode.

Go and get laid or something, prawny.

He's still young and will show real value in time, jh. He can't be blamed for the price we paid for him and shouldn't be punished for it. I think he deserves a proper full season before he's labelled and stuck in a jar.

I also want to see him when we are a proper, confident team. He came into a very unstable situation, I want to see him when we are stable and fully functional.

Next season will be different in a lot of ways imo. And I still think he'll be here, before you ask.;)

Vert was weak for the 3rd goal, disappointing.

Chiriches is good and unafraid on the ball; would prefer him in RB over Naughton. He has more potential to get the team going from tight positions. Although when he gets caught with it...

The CM pairing of Mason/Bentlab will keep us ticking all day and the ball is getting moved around quicker. Both are technical and can play 1-touch. Trouble is neither offer much else, but probably not their jobs.

Chadli was invisible. Lamela needs to start being productive and not just showing signs.

Kane actually looks strong on the ball; whatever happened long may it continue.

TBF you have.

@thinktank you're not being very helpful in my quest to keep the peace and have put yourself right into the line of fire now.

:(

Come on guys, disagree by all means but there's no need to be ****ing eachother off and telling people that they are this and that if they think whatever. Lets try to keep this a nice place where we can share a tin of quality street and give eachother the occasional reacharound rather than a seething hotbed of abuse, cock measuring and one-upmanship

Come on everyone, lets links arms and sing

All together now….

Fair play you filthy old bastard. Was only trying to save him from himself tbh.

I'm one of the few spreading positivity about the club and where we're going tbf. Just fed up with relentless negative campaigners/de facto trolls. That's the real poison.

But point taken and understood, sir.
