And yet if we hadn't lost against Liverpool OP wouldn't have so many tears. Who really just gives up supporting? He just had a 3 month break from Spurs so really he needs to stop being a bitch.

If you want to go just go quietly. Why do we need to know? What are you going to do now? Collect teapots or build model boats.

I've been Spurs since a wee lad in 1957, totally understand the OP's point of view but with Levy at least the club isn't going to do a Leeds or a Pompey any time soon. It is unthinkable to support anyone else as a lot of Man City and Chelsea supporters probably have over the years.

It's a bit depressing sometimes (well, most of the time) but what ya gonna do? Give up football altogether? If the OP has been a supporter since 1969 well at least we've had a few cups since then, hey it could have been Preston NE, won the first league then pretty much fuck all for the last hundred years.

Still, onwards and upwards there's always next year. Or perhaps I've been a fan so long I'm used to being deluded...

As I write this we have just beaten Brighton and I see we have Newcastle in the next round, they have just beaten Man City.

I have noticed over the years that shit teams beat us and then go on a good run. Now that IS depressing.

I missed this thread when it first surfaced.

Dodged a bullet.

If if's and ands were pots and pans there would be no need for tinkers

Thank you Spurs for the former glory which I wouldn't have missed for the world. I have been fortunate to witness some of the best football on the planet, albeit a while back and I still have some hope for the future despite the fact that football is a very different game nowadays and IMHO not as good as it was and is now as much a business as a sport and certainly I couldn't afford today's ticket prices. It's no longer the domain of the ordinary working man or woman on a lower income which is sad.

Supporting Spurs is like a marriage, through the good times and the bad, for better or worse and there will be no divorce for me.

I may be an armchair (or desk chair) supporter these days but I will be TTID.

One less moany bastard on the forum. A lot of these "Fans" need to go back and watch videos of the 90's and early 2000's before MJ took over. We were rubbish a lot of the time and had a team of Tremazani's, Calderwells, Nethercotts, Dozells, Vega's etc. We were terrible, finishing in the top 8 was a big achievement and European football was something you watched Man UTD and Arsenal play in a chunky backed TV. To my mind its only under the current ownership that we've kicked on and been consistent in any way shape or form. We've not Yoyo'd we've kept a strong consistent squad and had some very good players both past and present.

Unfortunately not everyone has seen us when we were pony and sponsored by them and not everyone remembers what European exile is like.

Please show some restraint and calm down.

I think the poster to essentially writing out being disillusion and with the club,I've. Seen spurs relegated ,I been a STH. Since the early 80s.
I'd would say I went 90 percent of our games home and away in the 90s.
I've seen the defence of calderwood,Nethercott,Austin and Edinburgh.
I felt like I was part of the club.
I've had spells when I fell out of love with the game but now I hardly recognise Tottenham.
My eyes have seen the glory ,3 fa cups,3 league ,I eufa cup.
Finishing 4th isn't glory to me.

The games changed now, money is king when it never used to be. In the 70's, 80's probably even the 90's you could see a team come from nowhere and win things. Now only 3 teams in the league can win it and with the size of their squads it also makes winning the FA Cup a challenge.

We just have to accept we aren't man city, chelsea or UTD (seems funny adding them now).

Money has always been king,Liverpool spent big,Leeds spent big and even Forest in the 80s.As well as Blackburn.
We were a forward away from winning the league in 2012,IMHO .
There has been 9 different winners of the league cup since 2000 and 7 in the fa cup.
What you are watching at spurs now is a football trading company who model is to finish 5th.
We paying champion league prices for a product that isn't good enough and fans are now beginning to see this.

Glass half empty of half full. If certainly not our worst period. Expectation maybe different now but it is a whole lot better than some of the past

Is Levy a type; yes a cautious type but still solid business

Of course there is more than one version of the truth but I don't see yours as being a fair reflection

Being of a similar time span fan I can only agree with your post.
We've seen the best times at Spurs although maybe, like me, you missed the "push and run" team's achievements. Seen relegation and some real dire footballers/teams but still here and I'm optimistic as always.
Bring back "McNamarra's band" tune. :D

He's not been on the site since September. When he made the post. He stuck to his guns.

Wonder if a trip to Wembley will bring him back.

@greaves4FR hope you come back mate. Things don't look half as bad as they did last September.

Investment in the youth and academy over first team seems to be paying off nicely.

Everton are not outperforming us on the field (neither are Arsenal at the moment).

The whole club seems to be pulling together. Still waiting on the stadium but have agreed a £50m contract for the ground works and you can see from the pictures it's taking shape. Just a courtcase to go.

We understand why you were disillusioned. Many of us were and we wont hold it against you.

Come back and enjoy Spurs again.
