best of luck tim
got a lot of unfair criticism, for telling it how it is, maybe tact was not his forte, but would prefer him at our club, instead of baldini
gave bentaleb his chance and somehow got the best out of adebayor

Don't mind it if it's purely telling as it is. Throughout the years, there's been a lot of people accusing him of whispering in Levy's ears, and I think the sheer number of accusers point to something. This is the reason I've never taken to him.

Amazed that Randy has appointed him but then it's probably a short term option until he sells the club.

Poor Villa. Just wait till he starts on the press conferences and starts slagging everybody off. How long will it be before he alienates the players? Got rid of one duffer and then they bring in another. Makes me appreciate Poch even more.
When I read comments like this I cringe.

I thought Sherwood was a strong, passionate, witty, likeable character. And his premier win stats were much better than Pochettino's over a similar period of games: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/31472125

And yet seemingly Sherwood made a significant number of Spurs fans cringe, just as much as I cringed when reading that comment I suppose.

He really is a marmite manager.

Wish him all the best. He did OK for Spurs in every role he held. Made a few mistakes as the manager but his record was, up to a couple of weeks ago, better than Poch. So if he has learned from those mistakes he could become a good manager. Cant understand the hate from some. Probably the same posters that continually questioned him picking Bentaleb. Actually it wasn't "questioning" it was a bit more vicious than that. They must feel silly now.
Anyway, I predict Adebayor will be heading there in the summer, along with, possibly, Tom Carroll and 1 or 2 others.

A three year contact is hardly short term. Though i didn't always like his management style there is enough positive comments fro ex-players and managers like Pleat to suggest that he may do a good job for Villa.

Even Brad Friedel rated him very highly and i guess that over the years Brad would have worked with plenty of coaches and managers?

People who are comparing Tim Sherwood to Pochettino forget it. Poch has had to clear up the mess that Tim made of our squad apart from the introduction of Bentaleb and Kane, Tim destroyed our team morale.

Sherwood (or anyone for that matter) has got to be better than Lambert.. Villa have been awful for such a long time. I remember them playing spurs and goin all out defence, they went 1 down and continued to play all out defence, then 2 and still playing all out defence.

Awful, awful team. Hopefully he can turn it around and get them playing some good stuff. They have a decent team, hopefully him and Ramsey keep their respective teams in the prem.

Sorry, when I said short term I meant as in Lerner selling in the next twelve months!
It's a massive opportunity for TS, especially when you think he's technically only had six months management experience.
I actually think Tim's ok, it'll be interesting to see what he does with Darren Bent as well who has scored almost half of Villa's total amount of goals in ten weeks on loan at Derby...

Tim Sherwood has been appointed as manager of Villa, a team that wears claret and blue. Martin Samuel will have been wanked dry by Neil Ashton, so overjoyed would they be at this news.
Rupsmith will not like what I've just written....

How childish!
I'm not even going to research the results, but I expect I'd find Poch (who I really like) lost to arse and chavs in his first encounters (his first 1/2 season) same as Sherwood.

I've learned to not even bother. Sherwood argued with one player (Sandro) who Pochettino then shipped out of the club; this seems to have antagonised people. He also told the truth in interviews, which people didn't seem to like for some reason. He didn't leave a mess; he left a teaming that was winning - and winning more often than it is now. People have an irrational hatred of him. Either because he's a cockney, or once played for Arsenal, or wasn't very good at Spurs as a player. Whatever the reason, there's no point trying to discuss Sherwood's pros and cons with people who irrationally hate him.

Interesting watching Sherwood's last interview. A reminder about his win percentage, a dig at Pochettino being flavour of the month, a reminder about the work he has done over the years with the youth team (which is now bearing fruit), remarkably wise words about Sandro, a laugh about how he invited a fan into the dugout (what a legend: I wish football had more characters like Sherwood) and a great joke at the end. We are going to regret losing this guy - a proper football manager.

While I'm at it, check out this infamous interview after we lost to Chelsea when most people probably formed their opinion that Sherwood was an embarrassment in front of the media.

He pointed out that too many of the players were too 'nice', and said that he couldn't 'count on them'. Interesting to note that the team that day contained Naughton, Dawson, Kaboul, Sandro, Lennon, Ade and Sigurdsson - all of whom are now sold or a million miles away from the first team. Sherwood's problem: he told the truth.
