tonight Soldado, Townsend and Eric L. would be on the very naughty step and I'd be looking get rid.

Ive had enough of all if and maybe's, they are tripe!

Having calmed down from last night, In mitigation have to say Lamela has at least shows desire and some skill so I'm more likely give him more time.

Soldado is a now a lost cause.
And Townsend leaves me speechless.

Pochettino has done very well with current group but you cannot expect miracles with so many lame ducks in a squad.

I'm not worried about us at the back and other than Paulinho our midfield has good foundation.
But we are carrying too many dead weights, but most of us knew this.

I actually agree with the Soldado situation, I was one of his vocal supporters.
I thought he would come good and am sad to say he's proving me very wrong, gutted:(

I absolutely have been nothing but behind bobby, but that display yesterday did something to me..never have I seen such a horrible attempt at making a goal, I screamed "nooooo" when it happened at the top of my lungs, absolutely flabbergasted

I'm still optimistic about Lamela.

He plays with his head up and tries to make things happen. Compare this with Townsend who plays with his head down and just repeats himself.

I really thought he would benefit playing with Eriksen and Soldado and can still remember how hopeful I was about those three forming an understanding :(:banghead:

This is the problem I think. He is trying to make things happen, but for a whole host of reasons nothing much actually does ever happen. We paid £20m too much for him. The price tag was not his fault, but it's the immovable object that he'll never escape.

He's only 22 though so I don't see the problem. With experience he will only improve. He has a great attitude, works hard and has shown flashes of brilliance. His flaws like holding on to the ball to long and being muscled off it are things which can easily be worked on. His young age and the fact he has proven his ability at Roma and sporadically with us means, for me, he deserves our patience.

I've made my mind up on him. He doesn't have the work-rate, the tenacity or the intensity to play in the system we all saw yesterday. He strolled onto the pitch and shirked tackles, ruined the balance and the touches he did have were poor.

It's clear we're all desperate to see a £30m do well and shine, but sadly, I think he will struggle to get a starting place from here on out.

Just to reiterate. He's too weak. A trier though.

I agree, but I also think that what we can't afford for him to be a starter in our team. I mean now we can because Townsend isn't that muc better if better at all but in the furture let him improve on the training pitch, from the bench and in cup game. He's not performing well enough or showing improvement at a fast enough rate to have him as a guaranteed starter IMO.

What does that prove, exactly?

Nothing really. I hate those kind of statistics. Sky Sports News do it all the time. With this player they've won 4 and without him they've won 2, as if there aren't any other variables.

Bit how I felt with Dembele playing against spam.
But I imagine he will bounce back, it's only been how many seasons for Dembele?
You can keep listing crap players all you want, doesnt change the fact that Lamela was poor last night. This is the Lamela thread after all.

It was a tongue and cheek reply to a knee jerker.
There were worse players on show, don't see any comments in there threads from you or was you just jumping on the bandwagon?
Feel free to be objective.

The only viable option we have to replace Lamela is Dembele, and that involves him playing central. Eriksen doesn't play on the right naturally so it risks having dembele/Eriksen overlap in the middle.
Not great tactically.
Besides, it's hard to argue that Dembele is categorically the better player. Aside from Eriksen/Chadli, none of our midfielders stood our statistically this season.

Townsend? consistently unproductive in PL.
So we dont have much choice really.
