You want all these kids to play as many minutes as possible, but loans aren't just about playing. It's about getting used to match day preparations (of a proper competitive nature) part of a first team squad, working hard to get in/stay in squad, the mental attributes that brings and basically being out of the comfort zone that the spurs academy brings, so the idea we should recall them as they are not playing 90mins each week is just wrong. They will all benifit long term from experience.

Indeed. It can be a double edged sword - a lot of these players will have been the best in their team since the age of about 5, best in school, best in the region, one of the best in England (all for their age) then they go out on loan and find that's its a completely different world and they are not lauded anymore.

Rose had a pretty dire time out on loan in the lower leagues, he knew he could come back to Spurs and had the thinking that Championship and lower was beneath him. When he went to Sunderland he had something to prove and upped his game. Came to Spurs, proved himself, then became complacent and Davies arrival has spurred him on again.

Mason on the other hand didn't get the game time he deserved but that just made him more determined and probably made him the player he is today, rather than a decent if unspectacular Championship player.

Came off the bench for the last 30 minutes.

Luton Town FC‏@LutonTown·
90+1' Oduwa, who has shown a real willingness to run at the Pompey defence gets a cross back to Lawless, his shot blocked for a corner.

A few comments from twitter, seems to still be quite the fan favorite and has a few glowing comments from opposition fans yet again:

@LutonNews_LTFC why no Elliott lee or oduwa. Another negative team selection from still

Oduwa's done more since he came on than Whalley has most of the season. McGeehan also betting pushing on.

Oduwa already causing plenty of threat with his direct running. Hard to see why he wasn't involved earlier.

That Nathan Oduwa who came on off the bench for Luton today was a player. Very impressed #Pompey #LTFC

Harriman, Guttridge and oduwa were our best players out there today!! Seem to walk with the ball around the area & not get a shot away!

Oduwa literately glides past defenders, but see why he isn't starting. He's a bit wasted in a non full strength, fit team.

Would like to see Oduwa from the start and Cullen with Lee up front, Drury and Gutts just behind. Obviously we'll never do it

oduwa done well when he first came, now on the bench constantly is strange

He scared the crap out of them when he came on today, worth another starting place imho.

like Gray, he attracts defenders towards him amd away from other players. Definitely better than Whalley!!

How does Oduwa not start? @LutonTown

Our best prospects cant even get a start in a league one game, yet liverpool get championship teams for their mediocre players. Hopefully next season more teams will be interested, especially since we're finally being recognised for our youth system

On the bench again FFS!!

Think this is another situation where a fast player is being identified by a manager as 'ideal to come off the bench against tiring legs' - stupid thinking, Oduwa's got far more skills than speed. Wasted loan - 18 minutes at the end of the match is ridiculous.

Little chance to show much but :

75' Mazy run from Oduwa, gets into the box but can't force a pass across goal. Town still searching for that elusive equaliser. Still 1-0.

As a heads up, Wycombe v Luton is on sky sports next Tuesday night. Might be worth watching should he get a run out.

Great spot thanks for heads up

Wycombe are my hometown club so was keeping an eye out for them but it's an added bonus we are playing Luton.

If Gareth ainsworth gets them promoted he must be manager of the season. It's a terrific achievement after staying up on the last day last season.

They've lost 5 out of 6 and Oduwa has been the most dangerous player in almost all of them... Manager is a twat.
Is he on yet?
Warming up apparantly. Fans on twitter have been begging for him all game.
