I know and quite like Tim however he was his own worst enemy at Spurs. He was the one who made it untenable and not the other way around.
The fans treatment of him was appalling in my opinion though. The players that were not on board under him and not training well and not putting in the effort are the ones that still put in crap performances and rightfully werent given new contracts at the time.
He needed to learn quickly and made some fundamental mistakes but will improve with experience and turn into a good coach one day as he motivates the players and did want to build a team of like minded players and thats what they need mostly to be successful, instead of the disjointed effort we currently have.

How much do you rate Poch?

Yeah, I would imagine it was a done deal in Levy's mind by the time Tim pulled his exit to the stands stunt. That isn't even remotely acceptable, and very well may have been a breach of contract.

Agreed, the hostility towards him from the fans in general was appalling. I agree with @Spurger King's point about the fact of him being immediately named permanent manager as opposed to an interim position was a significant factor in that reaction. There was talk of de Boer and even van Gaal, and then suddenly an academy coach is promoted to the permanent role. Was never going to start well, and he kept making strange decisions and running his mouth.

I agree, I think he's going to be a very good manager. Frankly, I think he and Villa are about perfect for each other. Tim seems to have a strange ability to get young players focused and confident for matches, as we saw with Bentaleb last season and as we've seen in the massive turnaround for Grealish since Tim's arrival. Villa need a man who can inspire them to be greater than the sum of their parts, and I think Tim is the kind of man who can do it. I'm not sure Tim would have been good for us in the long run over other options, but I do think he'll certainly be good for them in the long run.

He's doing well at Villa, fair play to him. Said a few naive things, but he gets crucified for a lot less on here than others. Given how brilliant our team under Poch are, and all the progress we're not making, maybe some of the haters might reconsider what a great move it was to sack a guy with real passion who cared in favour of the latest one season wonder.
We would NEVER have won in the manner we did against Chelsea under Sherwood. We may be inconsistent under Poch but there have been glimpses of what he can achieve and that is a quantum level higher than Sherwood.

I like him a lot and he needs to be rated once he has his own players as privately he's not happy with the squad he has inherited.
I agree and I'm hoping the lack of squad rotation is due to his unhappiness with the squad.

Have you heard anything on which of out players out on loan are currently in Poch's plans next season? I'm hoping at least Pritchard and possibly Fredericks will get a chance with the 1st team squad.

Pritchard and Alli will be at least on frame and Vejlkovic might have been if not for injuries, but reckon Fredericks won't be. But who knows?

To be honest I don't think its very private at all.
Sherwood told everyone months and months ago that these players were not up to it.
So basically AVB couldn't get these guys to work as a team once his hero Bale left and was sacked because of it.
Poch can't get these guys to work even though Harry scored 30 goals for him....... he still REALLY,REALLY needs his own players.
Sherwood didn't have any of his own players, didn't have a Bale, didn't really have Harry, yet he made it work with possibly one of the worst strikers in the league in Adebayor, a player the other two guys couldn't even work with.

This was the general attitude towards Sherwood a year ago..... wonder how many people have changed their opinions since.

The longer this thread goes on the better, to remind us how the fans are.
Still think he gotten extremely lucky and is a right prick. He's also still salty as fuck about getting sacked. Had an in form Ade last year and an in form Benteke. He's getting better tactically but not near where a premier league manager should be, IMO. Interested to see how he does next season and how he gets along in the transfer market though.

I don't know that he'll last a full season at Villa. Honesty is refreshing for a little while, particulary publically but soon wears thin. If Villa start poorly next season & Tim comes out in the press with even more 'honest' remarks, I can see things getting very difficult for him. I was surprised he got a PL job tbh. I do think he'll be a decent manager but I thought (personally) he should've cut his teeth in a lower league first.

I think he has played it really well diplomatically JJ. He was told, I think, that we had spent our Bale money and that was it. Do what you can with the squad we have and they are our terms otherwise we'll find someone else.

Another manager would have agitated and pulled out the old - they arent my players - card! He has quietly gone about his business and had to make do with Mason for example in an unfamiliar role which is a pretty damning indictment of Capoue, Dembele, Paulinho etc. I am sure Fazio and Stambouli were make weights in all this as well. Yes Mauricio we can get you a CB but he has to be gettable as 8 mil tops so who do you want out of Tom, Dick and Harry?

So it was a transitional season from a number of aspects not the least that he could'nt really do much in the transfer market. I am curious as to whether Levy will loosen the purse strings this time around even if we move Soldado and Ade on. The new stadium looms like a dark shadow over finances. I think it will be more of - well Mason and Benteleb are coming along nicely and we have Alli and Pritchard. Thats you done then for next season Mauricio old china. Off you go lad!

I knew some fans would want Tim back all of a sudden, totally forgetting, amongst other things, that - according to several ITK - several players, like Llloris, were ready to leave had he stayed.
Tim also got Benteke (the "best striker in Europe") back in time for the run in.

Tim Sherwood believes his own press too much for my liking. However, I dont think he is a fool by any means. I think he has had a lot of footballing experience and is no novice in terms of managing players and working on the motivational aspects of the game. He has also been around management for a long time now and should know his way around. I just think Spurs came too early for him.

He will probably regret some of his man management skills with certain squad members and some of his comments were imprudent. He will be a good manager one day and probably back at the Lane managing us. Football is an incestuous business.

First off,do yourself a big favour and stop listening to ITK's.
Secondly,Hugo Lloris will be leaving in the not too distant future regardless of who is in charge.
Finally,Benteke scored 2 goals in 16 EPL games before Sherwood took over....since his arrival, he has scored 10 in 11 games.

@stemark44 Have you really got a Tim Shewood Avatar, Jesus Christ :ROFLMAO:

Careful mate, he'll be after your fox avatar in a minute.

The reason he's done it is cause he was an absolute club legend during his playing days, and the best manager ever to grace WHL, Bill Nick included (win ratios and all that)
