We don't need new defenders, we need a dm, and more effort from the team to defend as a unit.
This, and not the personnel, made scbc hard to break down.
Toby at this price is way too much

I strongly disagree with this part. That's an outrageous statement. Since when can we afford to pay so much for an average CB. That would be our 3rd highest paid transfer ever. A versatile forward and CM are priority

I would agree with you if he was an average CB. He is no such thing. Regarding the scale of the transfer fee involved, football clubs are soon to be given a huge financial boost, which will in turn, mean transfer fees are going to rise, along with players wage demands. If we don't buy players of his quality when they become available, then somebody else will, so it's time to wise up.

Toby is a cb, who after one season at athletico, was deemed surplus to requirements and loaned out with an option to buy at 6mil. He ran into some good form in a team with a defensive ethos and now you want to pay 18mil. Not for me mate.

No way should we pay £18m. I'd rather keep fazio.

I'd say go up to £10. No more.

He's not worth £18 million

We've got Wimmer now and we've got Trippier at RB, which means more of Dier at CB. I say we leave the CB market for now and spend our time and money on a DM and striker.

I don't care about the money as long as it isn't mine.:)

I'm more concerned about the quality of the player and after what I saw of him last season at Southampton, whilst watching the car-crash of our own defending, I was very impressed. That's good enough for me.

The team comes first and everything else, on and off the pitch comes naturally as a result. You disagree with me, but that's cool.

So, I'm of the mind that I would much rather we improve other areas of the squad. I think we have a good enough 5 CBs but the rest of the squad really does need work.

I think it would be a good signing. I'd just worry about the price, especially as I'd prioritise cm and wf/st above this.

Sounds like Chelsea aren't going to do the deal so we have a clean run at it, unless we are using it as a pawn in the MS deal.

Can be a solid player though and a partnership with him and Jan could be decent. If he gets the Jan of 3 years ago back then he'll be worth it
