White seats would look atrocious, they'd get dirty quickly. If we had empty seats, they'd stick out like a sore thumb too.

You're right, we should have seats with faces on them to disguise any empty seats. :p

I think navy would be the best colour - or no seats at all...

Agree. Olympic stadium is about as boring and basic as you could find.

I wish ours wasn't as modern looking. Unless you're going for something innovative like the Allianz, I prefer stadia to look majestic. Lots of brick, impressive entrance area, columns maybe. Something that really imposes itself on it's visitors.

Hear hear.

My natural inclination would be to dismiss Chelsea's new plans just by their very nature - but I'm rather jealous they've got Herzog and de Meuron, they are very good at what they do, and have retained a 'good eye' for an office that is now doing such large pieces of work.

However, they've also planned a number of stadia which haven't come to fruition - and I suspect that Levy simply would not pay out for a design by them because the numbers would not stack up for such a use-limited building in his eyes. Interestingly Chelsea were also going with Populous, but have seemingly ditched them after a feasibility study, presumably for someone more design-led.
They have released images of their design, they are going in a different direction. They have taken inspiration from Westminster abbey and their stadium when it was built at the start of the last century

It will be interesting to see how it works out. Good for them for going in a different direction. England will soon have some wonderful stadiums.

Forget England, what about just London.

Imagine if Greater London bid on it's own for a World Cup. You need 9-12 stadiums I think. Well, we have them!

WEMBLEY,
TWICKENHAM
WHL
CHELSEA,
ARSENAL,
OLYMPIC,
TWICKENHAM
New QPR
Fulham
Watford
New Den

There are two Twickenham's? Greedy buggers and here's us struggling on for years trying to upgrade the one ground!

Is there any other city that has 5 stadiums with over 50k capacity?

Like the look of our new stadium and some of the others posted, still don't think any look better than the Allianz though, just love how that looks inside and out. The Germans have some proper football stadiums

That little tea-towel sized banner we made will look great floating around on the new North Stand

Here is the cross section of the kop stand for the Olympic Stadium
5mDPSpw.jpg

That is in Football mode, so mind the gap and it may be bigger than ours since its in front of the dugout instead of behind the goal and according to one west ham site it will hold 21k people
medium_640_mindthegap.jpg

Greyed out seats will not be seating fans due to distance from pitch though people think that may change

How does that work. I thought the lower tier when in athletics mode is just below the upper tier, like any normal stadium but that it rolls forward in football mode so the lower tier is nearer the pitch.
In that case there's no vertical space between the tiers, so how do they create that kop stand?
