Can someone point me to the page where it's explained wtf a sky walk is?
Strolling around on the roof howling with laughter as you look down at the tired little stadium down the road with a mere 60 thousand seats. Eventually the euphoria and wall of noise rising from the kop allows you to walk on air

Sorry if this is a stupid question but what do people mean when they say that this deal has potential to become a 'franchise'?

Does it means we're setting up our own English NFL?

To be fair, I could see Kane at quarterback (he says trying to act as if he knows what a quarterback does!)

It means some time in the future, an NFL team could play all their home games at the new WHL, and essentially become a London team.

I see the designs also have standing added, should this be allowed in the future. I wonder what that would change the capacity to? I see it's the 1 tier stand, south side?

It means that the nfl may decide to base a team in london. They are called franchises as the teams often change the cities they are based in.

quick question for @davidmatzdorf or anyone else who might be able to answer:

So the retractable pitch is clearly not going to be outside in natural sunlight, the plan seems to be for it to be underground using a lot of artificial lighting to keep it healthy and green. People keep asking where will the pitch go, because as far as I can see, all the plans so far show the pitch remaining in one whole piece as it retracts, and obviously south of the south stand is where the hotels etc are situated, so presumably it will have to extend beneath them.

Could a system work where the pitch is split into several sections of pitch, that as they retract, they split up and stack on top of each other, obviously with enough space left in between layers for the necessary lighting infrastructure to be in place, just as it would have been if it stayed whole. This would seem to me to save a lot of space as the area for the pitch could easily just be sunk deeper into the ground.

Just a thought, little illustration below to show what I mean. Appreciate any answers.

It will be kept underneath the kop end. You can see on the cross section. Some of it will be sticking out underneath the bit of land between the stadium and apartment buildings.

I think it's pretty inevitable that there'll be a London NFL franchise within the next ten years and Tottenham will be it's home stadium - the dedicated pitch makes it a far more attractive proposition than Wembley.

I wouldn't think having it in pieces would be desirable at all, in terms of a top quality playing surface. It is most likely going to be like the University of Phoenix stadium, but with the pitch stored underground. Populous designed that too, and Levy mentioned it today in one of the interviews. Here's a vid of it being moved...

It matters because over a hundred years of work and support from THFC family built this club and ground.

It matters because I don't want THFC ending up like Crystal Palace or Charlton.

Quite frankly I find it galling that no one really knows or cares.

The new stadium and surrounding areas are owned by a holding company that sits under the THFC Ltd company which sits under the ENIC company that sits under the Tavistock Group. This doesn't stop properties being transfered between companies.

You have to think what is the Tavistock groups end game?
It's not to skim of money here and there (which in theory they can do if they wanted no matter which company the stadium sits in). Ultimately they want to sell the club and properties for the highest possible value. This will mean having a successful club both in terms of on the pitch and off it. To be successful off the pitch would require having the stadium as part of the club. It might mean the other properties get transfered out (at a reasonable value) as to how they best see fit.

It's where you find Skywalkers. We are Tatooine Hotspur.

Meanwhile West Ham fans are Salacious Crumbs, Chelsea fans are generally Grievous and Arsenal fans are the Hutts (some jabba, the rest are either a ziro or a rotta)

I wonder what type of under soil heating will be used as the sliding grass pitch will have an artificial pitch underneath.

Surely the obvious solution with the three irritating listed buildings is to simply burn them to the ground?

Or maybe burn down EH's offices?

Come on we've got to burn something down. Levy's got a warehouse full of petrol cans and lighters and he's damned if he's not going to use them now he's paid for them!

I guess the undersoil heating and grass would move as one sliding structure?

I believe he has used them at least twice.

When the original scheme was announced way back when was hugely encouraged that buildings that played such a significant part in our history, Edmonton Dispensary, The Red House, and the former White Hart Public House, had survived, all with Bill Nicholson Way, in part thanks to English Heritage.

I'm as excited at everyone else about today's announcement, but much like the demise of the towers at Wembley, there is a part of me that will mourn the fact that some important parts of our history need to be removed in the name of progress.

I could buy into the whole crowd movement argument that I've just been reading about if they demolished the buildings purely in the interests of safety, but seems they are proposing to knock them down and replace them with a cinema (amongst other things).

I appreciate I may be in a minority of one on this and if demolishing these important buildings is the difference between the scheme going ahead or not then obviously they need to go.

Maybe will just make chanting "and if you know your history" a little more poignant in the new stadium.

So, 99.something percentage excited, a tinge of sadness at the loss of these buildings.
