Why? What if he scores 20-25 goals this season fot WBA? Will his value still halve just because they stuck to their guns?

Don't get me wrong, I would very much like him to come to Spurs but we're being very arrogant to believe that west brom are so much smaller than us and therefore have no right to say 'no' to the big boys.

Yes, because he'll only have a year left on his contract, so will leave for a hugely reduced fee.
See Nathan Clyne for details.

Not sure about you're ;)use of caps there:)

Well I thought he was just being ironic as his usage of the imperative with the verb "think" rather than "take" really strains the credibility in the deployment of that tense. And a grammar nazi would know such a thing.

For every Clyne, there is a Van Persie. He was in his last year of contract at the time of moving to ManU, and pray what was his value?

Clyne is a defender or fullback if you might. They (Defenders) don't cost a bomb, forwards do. If Berahino has a blinder of a season, his value would still be more than the said Clyne, and would have better suitors.

If he has a good season, the top 4 might get interested and he could move to an even bigger team.
See Scheiderlin for details.

I often think that most of the fans think our presence in the top 6 ensures us any player over the so called smaller clubs. The arrogance is sometimes laughable.

Edit: The last para is not aimed at you buddy. Please don't take any offence. I am just talking about the general air I get when I see some of the posts.

Quick update...As things stand most likely combination is Berahino and Illiarramendi. We are confident of one of the back ups though, should there be a game changing offer for AI. They are the two the manager wants so as things stand every thing is still very much on track.

Am also told that WBA had always planned to hold SB up for as long as possible regardless of the money offered. They do not want to give the wrong impression by selling the best prospect the club have had in decades at the drop of a hat.

I'm not saying we won't sign Illaramendi, but this will be a huge ninja move if we do. All I've read all day are Pool fans claiming he's headed to to them.

Makes FA difference to WBA, top 4 might throw a couple of mill on top, but his value will half if he's only got one year left.
It's not arrogance, it's simply what happens when a contract runs down.
He will defo go this window, unless he signs a new deal....Pearce isn't stupid.

Good news on the ITK front, cheers Trix.

Well it's going to be nail biting stuff in regards to the DM then. That will go right to the wire I would assume. I hope the confidence isn't misplaced on that as missing out on a DM will leave a sour taste on what has been a very good window providing Berahino come in.

If this is the most likely combination then we can only be hugely encouraged.

Must say, I've got my doubts over whether we will get AI over the line but i can't see any other scenario than Berahino a Spurs player.
