All very public with the manager amongst others confirming his availability.

Doubt we would be the only club interested at £20 odd million.

Hence why I hope we've moved fast

Like the look of this.

A player that can come straight into the team and make an impact.
Very two footed, mobile, agile and looks quick of mind as well.

Also, I don't know why but I love a smiler, it's infectious.

Get it done Levy or I'm sending the boy around...

Thats good to hear. Do really think he could also play as a lone striker in the PL?

Not that you asked me but I'd be worried about him as a lone striker as I could see him suffering in the same way as Soldado. He's certainly a capable finisher, but whenever I've seen him he's looked better playing a little further back.

Yep I'd love both too, but I can't really see it happening. N'jie, Berahino, Son - that's quite an expensive bit of business considering at least one of them is going to be benched if Kane is fit and needed (i.e, not in some 3rd round cup game against Grimsby).

I'd like to think Levy would be willing to bring them both in because he'd recognise that all three can play in different positions, and it would give us a lot of options and cover. Still seems unlikely though.

If Lamela goes out, particularly if its a permanent, I think both will happen.

Keep the faith mate!

I am watching the interview with Leverkusen coach Schmidt right now live. He is being asked about Son, and he said he has to accept the departure of Son as he has a squad good enough to cover the loss of the player.

Looks like this is done, can't believe there has been over 50 pages in 8ish hours too! We at Spurs community do like a shiny new signing!

Guardian article says that he had a release clause of €22m that expired in May and now they want €30m. Will be interesting to see what the eventual fee will be if it gets done.

€30m is £21.95m with the current exchange rate. This has potential to be a much better buy than Berahino.

For what it's worth I really don't think we'll get Son and Berahino.

I think we could fit both in the squad, I think they could both play in the same team, and personally I'd love to see it.

But I think with the signing of N'Jie that would be too many signings in similar-ish positions and I just can't see it.

If need be against certain teams maybe, but as 3rd choice I'd imagine behind Kane and Berahino. In the Europa League he could for sure

It's funny if he's a replacement for Lamela, it's like we've got a check list out to find someone who's completely opposite. Is he fast? Check. Is he comfortable using his weaker foot? Check. Does he have a silly Mohawk? Check...

With Lamela gone it would be a different ball game. Especially if the rumours about Townsend going are true as well.

You've failed to mention Gilberto?

Best thing Atouba did was a laying down scissorkick thingy in his own box. Edman goal v Liverpool and Gilberto against Spam

Spend all my days trying to forget Gilberto - He probably wasn't as bad as i remember him but........

(Atouba scored a blinder against Newcastle btw..)

If it really is €30m, I imagine only 2/3 would be upfront, with the rest never being paid unless he really excels. Levy has had a few ridiculous clauses in the past, which does make you wonder whether it is only there to let the selling club save face with their fans.

To be fair even if we don't sign Son this thread has delivered already.

Jan Aage Fjortoft.

Rudi Voller.

Ryu from Street Fighter.

The Korean military.

What else could you want from a thread?

I'm oscillating back and forth in this window. I can't help thinking we'll miss out and end up scrambling for square pegs for round holes, but with moves like this coming out of the blue (relatively speaking) I feel a bit more confident about things.

DM is just as important, but I don't see the Ian transfer news of today being much of a body blow. Most of us didn't even think he was an option a couple of weeks ago, and since then Bender and Kramer are still (in theory) available, and Wanyama has maybe become a possibility. I'd love to see any one of those come in. Seems to me that at the very least there are still options out there.
