Team mate Calhanoglu on Son leaving Bayer Leverkusen - "The whole team is pretty disappointed. but it's not his fault, he is a fine fellow. I think he is ill-advised"
He makes it sounds like they shared a flat together. I guess he can now cancel the bunk beds he ordered just last week.

Judging by the comments that have come out from his team mates and manager, the kid is well liked which bodes well.

Father may be an issue down the line though.

German journo on talksport this morning saying Leverkusen wanted him to stay but he's made it clear he wants to go to Tottenham, he then went on to say that he expects it to be a done deal within the next couple of days.

Need @Sweech in here to tell me why I can get happy about our apparent new born Son
Wish I could give you the boost, but the truth is between him and Berahino I like Berahino better.

This isn't to say I don't like Son or he isn't a good player. I'm just unsure of how he would adapt to this league.

That being said he's used to playing a very good and entertaining counter pressing system at Leverkusen so his transition should be eased by that.

I'm not sure I totally understand the comments from Hakan Calhanoglu and Roger Schmidt. I can understand they are disappointed if Son Heung-min leaves (any club would be to lose one of their top players) and that his father is his agent who is advising him to go but unless someone is forcing him to go against his will then it seems like Calhanoglu and Schmidt are laying it on a little heavy (unless of course the quotes aren't translated or transcribed properly).

You're concerned we're buying players in Chadli's position??! I'm relieved!

Chadli is good in flashes every other game. Nowhere near good enough in terms of application/effort and consistency. And this is his 3rd year now. No "he's still bedding in" nonsense.
I'm not sure who has said he is, chadli did well last season and finished in double figures last season playing in a wide position. You don't get many in the premier league that can do that.I think he has a lot to offer still and can play in all 3 positions behind Kane, all competition is good though. I'm pretty sure if chadli keeps scoring he will play a lot of games.

Chadli is a weird one. I agree with all the comments above, but you can't dismiss his goals, important ones at that. Goal scoring wide forwards/wingers are hold to get hold off. We were blessed with bale, but before that?

Never question Chadli's goals... Just sometimes his work rate. He's a frustrating player as you can see he has attacking talent, but he doesn't contribute enough for me to the team as a whole.

I wouldn't mind as much if he was a CF, but in modern football even they have to work their socks off (see HK), but he isn't.

Anyway, this is the Son thread, not the Chadli thread. :)

With Chadli, I like the guy but I can see the arguments both for and against him. He just disappears 9/10 but loves to chip in with a goal. If he was faster he would be a perfect player for the League

This wont be a popular view on here... but I think a lot of people, particularly from the Leverkusen end, will think he is taking a step backwards and it's probably money-motivated.

The poster I quoted in saying what you quoted said that they were concerned with buying people in Chadli's position.

I don't disagree that Chadli is the best option we have currently. Hence why he's not being sold and the rest are up for grabs.

However the game is about more than just goal statistics. Otherwise we'd be all over Austin. There's no doubt that Chadli has ability, but heart and desire he has very little. Unfortunately, he's a typical Spurs player. Brilliant in flashes but never consistent. And consistency comes from hunger to do well and heart. The two things he lacks.

I'm not happy with another year of him occupying a bit of space on the left and doing very little, with the exception of the odd goal every few matches. That's not enough, assuming we're talking abouy challenging the top 4, whether this year or next.

I'll be happy if he scores 10 goals in his first season.Would be a significant improvement from Lamela and Townsend.

I'm not quite sure i would have had consistency last season if i was a player and my dad died midway through the season. He had a lot of energy and push at the beginning part and obviously that disappeared later on but he did carry on scoring.

If we end the window with Son, Berahino and a defensive cm this could easily be our finest transfer window to date. It is already a very good one imo.

As long as he has the same attitude as Wipey then he is worth every penny.

Now where is our Naybet? Hopefully a DM one...

If we start analysing their personal lives then we may find reason to believe Gary Doherty was sold too early.

For a start the fact you're using that as a reason/excuse for him, goes to show that you agree his performances were poor at times, no?

The fact his father passed during the season may have affected his performances, I'm sure. However his father died in January and his form was not too clever prior to that either, with the exception of a few games, notably the Chelsea game in which he was excellent.

I'm not doubitng the guy's ability, nor his usefulness to the squad. I just don't think his application and effort warrant him a cemented position in the XI. I'd like to see him more as a squad player, which may even give him a much needed kick up the backside.

I think we are trying to set up this front 8

---------------Kane
Berahino---Eriksen---Son

-------------Njie
Chadli----Pritchard--Townsend

(Accepting that Berahino will be our second choice CF and Njie will more likely slot in at LWF)
