How does that work. I thought the lower tier when in athletics mode is just below the upper tier, like any normal stadium but that it rolls forward in football mode so the lower tier is nearer the pitch.
In that case there's no vertical space between the tiers, so how do they create that kop stand?
The connection between the two stands isn't a fixed stand more of a temporary one that can be moved, I think it will be moved underneath the main stand, but have to check first to be 100%

Here is their kop stand from their official renders

So when in athletics mode, their is a vertical gap between the lower and upper tiers?
And west ham will be constructing temporary stands to sit in that large space between the two tiers?

3 questions.

1. Why is there a vertical space between the two tiers? Are there corporate boxes there?
2. If there are corporate boxes, why would west ham block some of them to increase the capacity when they already know they have to give away seats for £1 before they even move in in order to fill it?
3. If there's no corporate, why not fill it in all the way round and have more fans closer to the action?

No corporate boxes that vertical space is where the gap between the two tiers where the concourse would be. Remember top tier was only temporary

There is a huge uneven gap and the sightlines wouldn't be good

As you can see the gap isn't huge however when in athletics mode the box isn't a viable option as the stand does sit underneath as shown below

I've got to admit, I like the idea of having the Kop along the side line rather than behind the goal.

Abromovich wants to emulate Alcatraz, I guess? The expanded Etihad looks really nice, on the other hand.

Think Chelsea's is interesting personally, does look like a brutalist prison from behind the iron curtain but isn't that where old roman should be?

it is different with potential to be iconic.

Where's the dug outs. Which i'm guessing can't be dug out as they'd be on the running track. 1 for each team will block a massive percentage of your view from those seats.

Think they're the tops of the light blue seats you can just about see.
