This is probably about getting Klopp before Chelsea come calling.

How many Pool players will be gone on the International break? Maybe there is no time to adjust to a new manager...

I agree. I don't think we have to worry about a new manager bounce. Watching them today I thought they looked alright. Bit too much panicking in here.

A lovely exchange over on RAWK...

RAWK poster 1: "Rodgers will apparently receive a payoff of £7.3 million. That's almost half a Joe Allen."

RAWK poster 2: "In that case we should give him Joe Allen instead for 3 days a week. Joe can live in Brendan's house and do his lawn"

Joke of a decision by their owners. Doubt their fluke season finishing second helped. Probably raised their expectations too high.

That and pissing £200 million up the wall on turd players
Nearer £300m. don't give these bastards and inch.

But that's a debate for another thread.....

I'm just thinking that Dick Advocaat chooses to resign on the same weekend that Liverpool sack Rodgers, hmmm.

I'm worried. All they need is someone with an actual clue and they'll leave us in a lonely 6th place. They're not a citeh or a Chelsea but with a guy in charge who can spot a talent and players respect, their £50m-£60m edge will be just another hurdle for an already young squad to overcome.

Let's hope a couple of lads develop very quickly or it could all slowly start to crumble and we'll not be looking to push on once in the new stadium but facing another mini-rebuild.

On a serious note, I think Rodgers could really struggle with his ego now. He bigged himself and Liverpool up so much, making it seem like the biggest job in football, that any job offers he gets will feel like a massive step down. Will he hold out for a top job that may never come or will he be able to accept that he's not God's gift to football and go to another mid table outfit?

@honigstein: LFC have not (yet?) contacted Jürgen Klopp, I understand.

He usually knows what's going on.

It's an interesting question. He's clearly a mediocre coach who massively benefited from the work Sousa and Martinez did at Swansea before him and has simply reverted to type a la Reading. But then worse coaches have been given gig after premiership gig so maybe he'll land somewhere desperate enough.

I would hope he retires from football altogether in disgrace and dies young, alone and penniless but i'm a petty, vengeful little bastard.

Will certainly be interesting to watch his behaviour, choices and his career trajectory from this point on.

Don't think we need to worry about BR too much. His delusion is that he's bigger than any club, doesn't matter the club. I just feel deprived that he's no longer providing the comedy gold that is Brendan Rodgers and Liverpool FC. You couldn't create two more delusional entities...I'll miss them, I really will!

Bold decision from the Scousers, probably a little bit harsh on balance. Could either turn out to be inspired or a disaster.

I think they'd be better going for Ancelotti, got a feeling Klopp wouldn't work in the PL.

I tend to think this could be true but I'm not sure if I'm just trying to make myself feel better. He'll either knock it out of the park or be a disaster. Not sure there's a middle ground. Who know with a new league and squad culture etc. Whoever the next guy is, I wish them nothing but the most rotten of luck.

I think we're way ahead of them in terms of squad balance right now. Whoever they bring in will likely take a season or two before they're ready to even get 5th imo. If we finish behind them I reckon it will be because we throw it away, Liverpool can't spend another £100m on new players after overhauling the squad last summer, it would be chaos. Their best bet would be someone who is willing to work with the current squad, (De Boer?) and only make a few changes in the next transfer window. I don't think Klopp would have the instant impact that people make out either.
