Isn't klopp a successful Poch type coach?
if given time. He built Dortmund into title winners and CL finalists, but then it went sour and he said the team had stopped responding to him - they are (or were, until last night) doing well under Tuchel.

I think Liverpool and him are a good fit, or would have been if it was the summer still. Now they need someone to put out the fires and get them performing straight away - well, after our game of course. Not sure that's Klopp at the moment. Maybe a temp in charge until January or the summer? Sean O'Driscoll is there, Gary McAllister is there.

Exactly that's why I don't see Liverpool employing him. I think they will try to get Ancelotti.

The thing with Rodgers is that if we were to get rid of poch you can bet that we'd be looking at him (amongst others) as the next manager here.

It's a depressing thought but he was the first levy looked at when the Redknapp to England rumours started. There was itk at the time that we had met him in February for discussions.

He was one of the hottest young coaches around then after doing very well with Swansea. The Being Liverpool documentary showed him as a nutcase though, straight out of a management for dummies book, and since then he's unravelled spectacularly. The amount of players brought in during his reign at Liverpool, the fees, and the fate of so many has been a disaster.

I'm sure he'd be linked to Spurs in the press, but I seriously doubt he'd be considered. It would be like hiring AVB back. Reputation tarnished. I wonder where Rodgers will end up next.

I'm relaxed about them getting Klopp as although he did great at Dortmund he has never managed outside of Germany and the PL is a very different game, he is undoubtedly a good manager but far from a guaranteed success (look at Ramos!!) as we don't know how much of his success was down to how well run Dortmund are run.

Ancellotti would be a lot more worrying as has pretty much succeeded everywhere he has been and also more importantly knows the PL.

Hopefully they both tell Liverpool to jog on and they end up with Di Matteo or someone :sneaky:

Hopefully someone would show Levy the quotes from when he said he was glad he didn't manage us etc

I have to admit the aircraft one isn't actually bad :cautious:

Although I really don't like the fellow, this was one of his comments that did make sense. I suppose we all use metaphors once in a while, just Rodgers liked one almost every other word.

One of my favourite uses of a metaphor, by Jimmy Carr. Something along the lines of....

"My friend was boasting that how he's got 2 girlfriends now after a bit of a dry period, I said 'Yeah, they're just like buses', he said 'what? You mean like nothing for ages and then two arrive at once?', I said 'No, I've seen them, they're like buses'.

I would've rather had Sherwood than 'UNKNOWN.' With Sherwood though, the season had finished, I couldn't see any reason why he had to get sacked straight away. Getting Poch was not guaranteed at that point.

We sacked AVB without having a manager lined up though which is why Sherwood got the job.

And getting rid of a manager at the end of the season is entirely different to sacking someone mid-season. We had months to sort out a replacement without it impacting our season and we were always going to be able to find someone in that time. I'm sure Liverpool will find someone pretty quickly though. They have money to spend and don't mind overpaying on wages either.

If they appoint Klopp it will be a tabloids dream.

I can see it now ....... "Klopps Kop Flop"

Hopefully they're still shite next weekend fancy us to get back to winning ways against them regardless.

These ones are why he will never be a good football coach/manager:

“I use a quote with the players, “Per aspera ad astra”, which is Latin for ‘through adversity to the stars’.”

“I started coaching for one reason and that was to make a difference for people, not just as footballers but as human beings.”

“It’s not just about training players, it’s about educating players. You train dogs.”

“I think there’s three players who will let us down this year — the cause, the fight, everything – and I have written them down already in these three envelopes. Make sure you are not in one of the envelopes.”

Yes but it was an instant switch, bringing in Sherwood as caretaker, I think we can all agree that was planned before AVB was sacked. Not that it matters, knowing Levy, he would've sacked AVB even without having a caretaker. It just doesn't make much sense, why not keep Rodgers right up until when the contract is signed with a replacement.

You can guarantee that they've already spoken to several possible replacements and have someone who will step in. That person may not be their number one choice but you can bet they have someone ready if negotiations with Klopp or Ancelotti hit a wall. It was known weeks ago that they were going to speak to Klopp in November http://metro.co.uk/2015/09/18/liver...-november-reveals-raphael-honigstein-5397645/ - I know its a Metro article, but Rafa Honigstein is a decent journo.

The biggest itk was Rodgers saying he was offered the Spurs job.
