We're moving back into the pack, the days of "building a team" are over. There is so much money swilling around in the game that clubs can build competitive teams within a couple of transfer windows. Any of our "young players" who come good will be sold before any fruition takes place.. Its all about the here and now in modern football.

Its business as usual.

I think the OP's concerns are legitimate, it is a work in progress and Poch does need time. I always thought this was going to be another transitional season, however Poch has said differently he has said he wants to fight for top 4 this season, when you say things like that it raises the expectations of the supporters.

ENIC CRITICISM ALERT.

To me it's obvious that he's under a great deal of pressure from the board to get top four. I find that ridiculous especially when they miss out on getting a striker for the past two windows. The constant hard on for top 4 when we are the sixth richest club is stunting our progress. I'm sure if there wasn't this pressure Poch would be more inclined to play more youth in premier league games instead of limited appearances in the cup games.

The youth are the foundation of the club but I kind of fear for their future because of the quick success mentality that's around. I much prefer to give some youth experience even if it means finishing midtable of course that means no Europa but we only just decided to take it more seriously anyway. It would also mean we will get less money but we will make more money if we have some youth who make it through.

Well he's obviously having some effect at Spurs .
2 very unSpurs stats...

1. We've run further than any other Prem club

2. We have more yellow cards than any other Prem club .

Motivating the team to greater efforts 10/10

To be fair the second stat isn't something to be proud about.

IMO... We need Son back in the team and a new CF.... Andros & Fazio to go in January. We also need more from AMF in quick forward passes, and.. total concentration 90 mins + Better co-ordination of AMF ST Wings.

I agree , The commentator who mentioned it though (Owen ?)
seemed very impressed .

However , my point stands as all this running and fouling takes a lot of effort...

There's no point in a plan B until the team/squad are settled with plan A.

A plan B is needed in games where the score line is going away from the desired. EG we are playing Bournemouth who have decided to sit back and pack their half (I know they don't), 20 minutes left and you think we should just carry on the same possession stuff, going out wide then coming back inside and hope they tire?

I dont see this pressure from the board at all. Where is it made 'obvious' to you?

Jesus Christ, if people can't understand that laying foundations, particularly strong defensive ones, can take time to implement without some sacrificing in the short term I just despair.

Its very obvious that we've improved hugely from a defensive point of view, we just need to show some patience in terms of waiting for the attacking play to click and knit within the strong defensive framework we've now created.

We already saw signs with Son's movement in the team. Things will improve gradually.

Agreed. If much rather that at this stage we are drawing why Liverpool or beating man city than getting thumped by then 3-0, 5-0 as has been the case the last couple of seasons.
Now that the defense is becoming more consistent he can start to develop the attacking play and style

Oh God we've turned into Arsenal fans. The roller coaster of 'we're gonna get top 4' to 'Pochs shit sack him' depending on each game by game result has begun.
We have one of, if not the youngest squads in the PL.
Almost every game we are the youngest.
We only have 1 out and out striker in the squad.
We have a Net spend of next to fk all.
I don't care who your manager is you aren't going to be pulling up any trees while thats the situation you're in.
I believe the phrase is 'trying to polish a turd.' By that I mean a futile effort not we're shit.
I think a reality check is in order.
Pochs doing ok with what he has.
We ARE improving and thats all we can ask for really.
As has been said, any of these youngsters really look the part and some fucker will just take them.
Building for the future is impossible.

One more time.......we are a work in progress. Our defence finally looks settled, it is the foundation on which everything must be built. We have a good spine, that as a whole are still young. Yes we are missing that x factor player that all great teams have. Optimistically if Kane gets his scoring going again, Son gets fit to play again and Lamela and Erikson play to their potential on a consistient basis watch out. COYS.

You made that up!

With no fit strikers we are in a pickle. Berahino is not the answer IMHO. We need need Son back and another edition.

“In football, you need to try and take the positive result and always win,” Pochettino said. “If you achieve the Europa League, it might not be the dream of the club or the supporters but you need to play it because it is good for the financial side of the club.

We need to try and build a strong team for next season to fight for the top four. We need to be clever, to analyse after the end of the season and move quick to build the team. If we achieve Europa League or not, we need to move quick.”
