For the money Newcastle would want for this one it wouldn't make any sense. We've actually looked pretty good when N'jie and Son have played up front and I can't see how Perez offers something that either of these don't.

If we are gonna spend over 10m on a striker I would rather it be someone bigger stronger and more involved in the build up play.

Perez has a fantastic workrate, Berahino has a very good range of finish from what I've seen.

Why do you think is he third or fourth choice striker at Newcastle ? Genuine question because I've only seen him a handful of times and I've never seen anything overtly wonderful, but maybe you have seen him more than me.

Why would he want to swap their bench for ours?

Perez isn't the 3rd or 4th striker. He started for a long time and Newcastle fans couldn't understand it when he was dropped, he was clearly doing well for them.

I think he's very average but I'm interested to see if some of you guys have spotted something I've missed.

Don't think we'll be buying him, in any case.

He is young and from what I have seen he has put on some muscle. I have seen him play a handful of time and always saw an impact and energy. If for the right price, I do not see why this is a bad move. We have very few options and now that Clinton is hurt, we clearly need a filler. Might as well be a prem tested, young, and relatively cheap option.

I have read today that Newcastle are looking to bolster their attacking options over the January period and are hoping to make at least one new signing. So I cannot see Newcastle therefore selling Perez in this window...

Furthermore, Perez has openly come out today and admitted that he has received interest from Spurs and Utd. He is flattered, but not interested in a move at this stage.

He can't get in the Newcastle team ahead of de Jong who's not very good. That must say something.

Doesn't that usually mean that we haven't offered him high enough wages to swap their bench for ours?!?!

Probably more that we have enquired about his availability but haven't made a concrete offer.... Yet

Last summer Geordie fans on various forums were saying he's hugely talented and worth circa £20m. I was like wtf have u lot been smoking and their general response was he's got the talent but needs development. That's a fair point but it doesn't translate as a £2m signing becoming anywhere near a £20m rated player on the grounds he 'may' become a decent player.
