I'd be delighted with any of the names being mentioned assuming as we must that mitchell and poch are firmly onside.

Chic would have been fine last window.

People wanting strikers with a bit or a lot of everything are setting the bar too high. And those of you happy for baldy to get his first semi of the window as late as deadline day are setting the bar too low.

So you think he has ambitions to play a 1980s target man who can only score from crosses and who doesn't press from the front?

No I'm saying you haven't got a clue what his long term game plan is, where as of course he does.

What I am saying Is plan B is changing the way we play to suit the needs of the match. if we arent getting the result using our current approach bringing on a similar style of player is going to make little difference as we have seen on a few occassions this year. Plan B maybe a big target man or may be a quick fox in the box. But essentially it is a different plan to suit how the game is playing out.

The whole Benteke ITK seems unlikely since I suspect a transfer fee is unlikely to be agreed with us in Jan and a loan more likely. Wages will undoubtedly be an issue. Benteke will be wary of signing for a side where he is clearly not being signed as 1st choice and may have had disappointment before (when he was allegedly told we would bid, put in a transfer request but then no bid ever came).

But, hoping we can keep Kane fit/suspension free for the rest of the season is a massive gamble and I don't like the thought of Chadli, Lamela, Son, Dembele (N'jie out) leading the line.

So viable options must include Benteke who is a proven goal scorer, can play up top on his own and contrary to belief I think can play with the ball on the floor. Berahino is the only other proven forward we have been linked with. The others are a gamble like Batshuayi, Dembele Jnr.

I seen just about every match Poch has coached in the last 4 years. I think that gives me as good an insight as anyone has to his philosophy.

There's no way he'd want a fragile static lump like Benteke. It goes against everything he looks for in a player.

Poch is a system manager. Like most of the top modern managers, he lives or dies by his system. He'll no more switch to two touchline wingers, two CFs and balls over the top, than Allardyce will pick a team of skilful midgets.

The squad Poch has assembled is very much 22-men, two like for like players for each position (with some versatility). All we are missing is a young Kane clone

What better than his own?

Laughable!

OK here's an update as to how i'll be rolling this year. Which is pretty much as usual really…...i'll be refreshing the thread by posting up our annual "Christmas Carol" ITK story at some point very soon, that thread will stay pinned until next week and around New Year time we'll start having proper daily threads, i'll actually bother and we'll start taking it all a bit more seriously.

Until then I remain lazy and wallowing in daily ITK discussion thread apathy. Can't be arsed is my new starsign. But the beast will awaken, at which point you lot better start getting twinkle toed when it comes to staying on topic :p

Merry ITK Christmas to all of you, even the more natually ****ish among you. I play no favourites :woot:

So give up and try something you are not so good at basically. The best teams don't give up, they believe in the way the play and stick to it. That's how they score late goal, hoofing the ball upfield ad a Plan B rarely works. Is that what Barcelona do? no. Bayern Munich? No. Real Madrid? No. Manchester United when winning titles? No. They all continue playing the way they know and trust.
