Semi intense moderator attack

I'm laid up on my sofa suffering from a severe attack of man flu and reading that induced a frenzy of laughter, coughing, snot bubbles and hyena calls, resulting in several painful ribs and cramp in my left bollock twitcher muscle.
My life purpose fulfilled, I gather.

That goes against our entire present strategy. Like the strategy or not, but the entire core of the present regime prevents that option.

I know it does but if the current situation dictates that we desperately need a backup striker and we can't find one to fit the long term strategy then we need to be smart enough to recognise it and take a short term option to help the team today.

Anything other than this is the club being too stubborn.

The bottom line is that if we have not added at least one more striker to our current playing squad come the end of the transfer window then we are massively running the risk of derailing a potentially crucial season.

I love Ali Z's comment "but we will not add what we perceive are players that do not improve us." We don't have a back up striker. Anyone with a pulse is an improvement. Kane looks absolutely knackered. If we don't sign a striker for the second window in a row, especially considering our current league position, it is a colossal and inexcusable failure.

Ok. Anybody on here who doesn't personally know Mr Levy please stop making any comments or opinions regarding him.

What makes you think he has learnt given we're in the same position.
Did he tell you?
edit A Spurs birthday card does not count. A 1 to 1 sit down with a cup of tea and minimum of 2 custard creams gets you your opinion of Levy pass.

The way your point comes across, (and it's the way you use your words, so if you don't mean that, please either use the right words or none at all), is that you know better.

I'm not denying you a right to say stuff. That doesn't mean I cannot rebut it or suggest that the source of your opinion is, say, based on not a lot. Saying things like "Levy hasn't learned" suggests you know better. You don't. Sorry mate.

What precisely hasn't he learned? He can't magic up this young (probably English) Premier League experienced centre-forward if one does not exist. We have identified one and he happens to play for a club where the Chairman is a complete weapon. All of the (accurate) noises are that Poch doesn't just want anyone and I understand that. Why you can't see that just throwing anybody in because he has at some point worn a number 9 or number 10 shirt for a club could ultimately be detrimental to the club going forward is genuinely beyond me.

Sorry for the semi-intense administrator attacks; how fearsome I am with a stupid Wenger smurf avatar.

Lolz.

I'm only glad it is DL in charge of the club rather than someone with the attitude of half the fans I read on here. I'm 48 and this is as good as I remember it in my lifetime. Training ground, head coach, financial situation, new stadium, young team and very healthy prospects. I'd rather be us and have our set up than any other in the EPL. We might need striker cover but we have to trust those that run the club to make the correct decisions. I don't know all the influences on transfers but I'm sure DL isn't stupid and has no interest in fecking things up on purpose.
They get more right than wrong. COYS

When did we last spend £20m or so without recouping that through sales?
Along time ago! But who says were gonna spend anything near that? We just need cover, I'm sure we can bring someone in that doesn't involve selling a player to buy a player.

I suppose it boils down to your opinion of what you see as the biggest risk.
You think bringing in just anyone could be detrimental to the club going forward.
I think to not bring in somebody and risk 3 months without a striker if Kane had serious injury would be detrimental to the club going forward as we'd more than likely miss out on the chance of CL football. A chance that we will probably not be in next season.
Obviously I'd prefer we bring in the best striker we can and I dont want just anybody but nobody is not an option as far as I'm concerned.
As I said, to find ourselves in this position in the first place is very poor and rightly or wrongly I blame Levy for that, he is the man at the top after all and to be in this position AGAIN tells me, imo, he hasn't learnt from last time.
Are you saying you don't believe he made a mistake last time? Is that where we're getting our wires crossed?

I mean this with the greatest respect, but given that you and the other chap are people that have never in their lives spoken to or met Daniel Levy, I think I am fine to completely ignore and/or mock you when you suggest that he has or hasn't "learned" from something and when you contain not even a minute amount of knowledge on the subject, nor a modicum of ability to look at the bigger picture.
All you have to do is look at what he's done. Leaving us with one competent striker for 2 years now. The first of which, we lucked into one. The second of which, he only left us with that one.

I'm sure Carlton Cole has a pulse and definitely wouldn't be a better option than Son playing up top instead of Kane. Get a grip I'd back Son over most players I've seen linked this window. If someone more suited comes up great. If not I'm sure Son will do a good enough job or maybe even Chadli as he did in the Uefa two years ago.

We had Soldado, Kane and Ade this time last year. Don't fabricate to suit your argument too much...

What if there's no one available better than Coulthirst (who looked a beast in the last U21s game btw)? Why waste money on another Rasiak/Saha - something inferior to what we already have. This is January - good players aren't available in January

Oh because Soldado and Ade were competent strikers:rolleyes:

Ade's goal scoring record for our club says otherwise. Similarly Soldado's record before and after our club says the same.

Attitude and poor form can't always be predicted. I'm sure if Ade went on loan last January we would have probably signed someone but he wouldn't...

Problem with that argument is that Townsend looked like a demi God in the same game which illustrates the gulf between U21 and EPL.

So...

Are we clear that some people:
  • Blame Levy
  • Don't want Berahino
  • Want a striker, any striker
  • Are happy Townsend is likely to be sold
  • Believe there is a zero net spend policy in place
Cause I'm reading the same comments day after day...

You can say all of this when the transfer window shuts - until then, a lot of this is wasted energy.

O! If only we had won yesterday, we won't have to read pages of accusation and counter-accusation.
