We have Chadli.

We have Son.

We all want another striker, and I'm sure Poch wants one as well. But if the right players aren't available why buy someone just for the sake of it?

Just think about it a bit Millsey. Do you honestly think Levy is sitting there thinking about how he can mess up our season?

You're being ridiculous.
We have now entered the bsodl spin zone in this thread.

What do you not not get? Levy offered Poch Austin in the last window and he turned it down.

He only wants a certain type of striker or no one at all!! Your posts are frustrating the fuck outta me!!

But that doesn't mean Poch will be right in his thinking. He's doing a brilliant job and deserves our backing. But that doesn't mean we can't voice our concerns.

Of course people can voice their concerns. It's still rather odd that Levy is getting the blame.

People are getting confused about this right to an opinion malarkey - they seem to be forgetting about the right to counter that opinion with facts and/or sense.

Tomorrow I'm WFH. Sky Sports News HQ for background music it is ...

Yep, I agree with that. I personally think it shows how much Levy supports the manager. If HR was our manager in this situation he'd be looking at getting in another striker even if it was a short term solution.

It's a brave stance to make from Poch and time will tell if he is right to stick rather than twist and bring in someone to beef up the numbers. It doesn't mean its the right thing to do though.

Christ almighty. I dread to think what it's going to be like in here tomorrow night..
Same as the last window - except then we needed a DM as well as CF as Dier was not hood enough........
Mega fallout when no signing but all turned out ok with Poch getting it right.

If we were looking for cover up front surely we could have taken a punt on bringing in Seydou Doumbia on loan from Roma instead of him going to the theories.

Yep. Last season he noticeably started flagging in the last quarter. He already looks tired this season, and we're still in two cup competitions.

Anyway, I'm not annoyed as I have zero expectations of any meaningful incomings by close of play tomorrow.

I'm with you but how frustrating is it to be so short of a back up for Kane with the season having panned out as it has? He clearly doesn't believe any of the others can do a great job otherwise Kane wouldn't have played as many minutes as he has and he wouldn't have started yesterday. Anyway, groundhog day, same story as always.....To dare is to do!! LOL

I agree. Waste of time getting someone for the sake of it.
In this situation I would usually say we need to buy someone but Mo Po is the difference. Finally a manager who has a vision and is able to execute it.
The current squad still has so much more to give

Poch will not play anyone he doesn't want.

For me personally i would have taken a punt on austin. But obviousley he wasn't fancied.

We will move on and hopefully it will be enough. Poch has been proved right so far so i will back his judgment.

I'd be frustrated if I hadn't have already come to terms with it at the end of the summer transfer window. Just hope it doesn't end up costing us (although I'm quietly confident that Son could do a job for us up front).

Think a good additional striker could consolidate top 4 or even give us good chance of the title itself.
But it has to be a striker wanted by Poch, not foisted on him. Hence I think it was right not to sign Austin. I think he could have been a good signing but Poch didn't. End of.
The only 2 strikers it is clear that he wants (ie at least one of them) are SB and MD so hopefully we land one of them. I do think that without offering crazy money it is worth pushing the boat out a bit if they are the players Poch wants and feels could improve our prospects.
If as is reported WBA want Pritchard hopefully we can use that to secure Berahino?
As always for Spurs fans deadline day will be interesting! It is usually also disappointing but I won't dwell on that ;-)

Isn't his point that the club should be able to identify and deliver that 'certain type of striker' in the time they've had?

It's hard to argue with that.

And what if there is no-one available for the money we have that poch thinks is suitable and he'd prefer to stick with what we have?

In regards to Dembélé, if we want him now I would suggest loaning a couple of younger players like edwards, Oduwa, loft, KWP to Fulham for the rest of the season. That way they get potentially more football experience as well as only moving across London which gives us easy access to them at most times. I would send a few though so that Fulham are covered and so that they aren't by themselves
