We just sold Townsend for 12m. Don't tell me this is another window of transfer profit:banghead: when we got a glaring need at striker and a chance at top4 or maybe even a title.

If there is not a striker out there, at a price and quality that would be a better bet than what we already have, then how can we sign one?
Poch said earlier in the window that he was not prepared to sign someone who would upset the dressing room: Berahino out then.
MD2 - Fulham want to loan back for the rest of the season.
Who else is there? Some Spanish players have been mentioned: one who is over 30 and one who has never made his mark at Barca or on loan. If there is no-one out there who would improve the team, what is the point?

People clearly haven't been paying attention to Pochettino's press conferences, been said many times that he will not just have anyone in the team, if there's no one out there he trusts then there's no one out there.

You better get used to it...

The latest rumour is he is heading to West Brom.

So next summer, when we again can't find anyone that's good enough, what do we do? Just keep Kane for the next 5 years playing every game?

In regards to Dembélé, if we want him now I would suggest loaning a couple of younger players like edwards, Oduwa, loft, KWP to Fulham for the rest of the season. That way they get potentially more football experience as well as only moving across London which gives us easy access to them at most times. I would send a few though so that Fulham are covered and so that they aren't by themselves
Normally yes.. though at the moment there needs require championship needs, I heard they were trying to get loan deals for Sidwell & Kike.. makes sense.. they know the lg

Would you rather sign someone who's not good enough? If poch thinks that chadli or son would be better than the strikers available then why would he buy one?

I have a hard time believing Son or Chadli are better as a center forward than proper ones like Depoiter, Embolo, Batsuayi, Lacazette, Werner, Volland, Negredo, etc. All difficult to get, granted, but non available? That's nonsense. Some of them like Volland even have reasonable release clause.

Even players we had like Townsend etc. etc., he didn't play so why would we buy players he does not want? As you say people need to understand who Poch

Is it just me or is this thread going around and around in circles more than Scott Parker on roller skates? Don't panic chaps I'm sure Danny will be running around London and Birmingham with a wheelbarrow full of fivers as the deadline approaches. Both clubs need to sell if they have any financial sense, he just doesn't want to blink too early and let someone else get a sniff. Both deals have a last minute feel to them IMO. Until Big Ben rings eleven times I wouldn't rule it out.

How many of them could we afford and would want to sit on our bench in a euro year?

And what if there is no-one available for the money we have that poch thinks is suitable and he'd prefer to stick with what we have?

I think it's fair to say that if in over 18 months of looking we haven't been able to identify one attainable striker who can play in a Pochettino team, then our scouts need a serious kick up the backside.

I don't buy this notion that Pochettino has Goldielocks syndrome and will only agree to the perfect player. One of his greatest strengths is bringing out the best qualities in players who have rough edges. He turned Ricky Lambert into a bloody England international and that says it all!

We just need one. It just puzzles me why we are not going all out for at least one. For example, Timo Werner was definitely our target, but somehow forgotten this window. It's a total nonsense to say it's Berahino, Dembele or bust. There are a plenty of talents out there.

Despite Trix's latest ITK info, I have a gut feeling that we won't sign anyone to provide striker competition/cover for the second half of the season - at best I think we'll get Dembele on an Alli-style sign-now-but-loan-back-until-the-summer basis, but until and if that actually happens when the window 'slams shut' [oh, do fuck off, Sky Sports News] then I'll refrain from bemoaning our business during this January.

I personally think that going into February without having signed someone who can provide some genuine competition/cover for Kane would be a massive mistake: it's just too much of a gamble when it comes to Kane's continued form and fitness, IMO. But before all the "Duh! Don't you listen?! Pochettino repeatedly says he won't sign someone just for the sake of it!" crowd jump down my throat, Poch has done enough right by me so far that despite my misgivings I won't immediately be kicking up a fuss if we've still only got the one proper striker on our books on Tuesday morning.

However
, if [and hopefully neither of these things happen] we don't sign a striker who could contribute to the second half of the season tomorrow and Kane suffers a significant period of injury or poor form which puts the knackers on our season, then I absolutely reserve the right to remind the people who are currently saying that they're completely fine with just having Chadli/Son as our striker cover options that I think that that would be playing with fire. Likewise, if we don't sign anybody but Kane does stay fit and firing on all cylinders (or Chadli/Son successfully step up if he doesn't) then feel free to tell me I was being a pessimistic worrywort: I won't mind if you're right [in fact, I'll be delighted], but we'll all be frustrated and annoyed if I'm right.

And like hell he wouldn't be interested in Embolo, who is almost a complete forward at age 18.

If we're smart we'll go back in for one or two of those names in the summer if we've got a CL place.

We'd all love a great backup striker that can step in for kane. That's not the issue. It's what is available in our price range. If poch thinks that chadli/son are better than what is available then he wont go for it.

I know, I get that. [Kinda thought I already touched on that in my post?] I just don't agree with Poch on this one. :)
