I would say that's us done now in that competition.
I just hope that Poch doesn't play a strong team against them at home. We play Villa on Sunday so you would have thought he could have played a strong team tonight and look to rest a few next week. Bournemouth are going to be a harder team to beat than Villa.
If he plays a strong team next Thursday then this is a shocking managerial decision
In Poch we trust

As bad as we were, we would've gotten the away goal had it not been for that awful decision.

Because as good as they are going forward their defence looked nothing special. Now it's 3-0 and it's gone.
Precisely.. To think Hoffenheim did score against them.. We did shit nothing

Mason has stopped doing all the things he was good at, surging forward runs, shots from the edge of the box etc.. but hes become a boring nothing player just doing the basics very poorly.

I like Mason in games where we are well on top, and the other team is sitting deep cos he makes very clever runs into the box. Against any team who actually give us a game he often looks very mediocre though. Good squad player, but not one for the big games for me

OK, only going to say this once.

They are what we should aspire to be. They pressed us off the park and were all, as BC would say, busy ****'s.

But, it's no wonder they can play their full strength team, they are 16 points clear of 3rd place in Germany, they know they aren't going to catch Bayern. They've 2nd place wrapped up. They can focus on winning this thing which, in my opinion, they will and have had their name on it since they were in it.

They also have a winter break, and don't tell me that doesn't matter because it does. A couple of weeks off is huge for any player.

We could and should have had a penalty at 1-1, and Hummels shouldn't have been on the pitch to foul Onomah at the end.

You can question Poch team selection but it was obvious certain players needed a break.

That's it.

For those saying that "Poch can't win" as we would have moaned about players needing a rest. That's crap. We should have had a massive European game tonight but instead it was a non event because of the horrible team selection. These nights are important, and it's not like we have Chelsea or Liverpool next we have Villa. The ref didn't help but that was a shocking watch.

For the home tie, be disgusted to see any one of Kane, Eriksen, Dier, Alli, Lamela, Lloris or Toby starting.

Any chance they'll think it's job done and rest/become complacent 2nd leg?

I think we go into that game thinking it's a one off and just play the way we know we can. Forget 3-0 tonight. Just win the game at the Lane. If we somehow get an early goal or not, please whoever goes (myself included) support the boys. Give Dortmund the atmosphere they want to experience. Strongest side possible next week please Poch. Show them that we are capable of beating them!

It will be like the Real Madrid second leg in the CL. I was there and it was a complete waste of time. Everyone knew the tie was over. I saw kaka though, that was awesome he was head and shoulders above everyone on the pitch.

As expected seems we firmly have our finger pressed on that self destruct button like only spurs know how, wouldn't surprise me if we don't even make CL for next year, sorry to be on a downer but sadly comes hand in hand with supporting Spurs... Madness team selection tonight, either play your 2nd string from the start or play your strongest and go for it, this in between is absolute nonsense and we see the same failures year in year out, I swear sometimes is feels like Dougal from Father Ted is running the show for us, near, far...

This is why we get fucked by not having a good enough backup DM and striker. We have relied to much on Dier and Kane already this season, and they both look knackered and could do with a rest.

Our squad is still not complete though. Im sure we will adress those position in the summer.

If he's putting out that team against one of Europe's best, why bother even getting through group stages. Would have been safer putting youth out from start. That result tonight does nothing for confidence.
Have you ever heard of the saying "hindsight is 20/20"? I am pretty sure that if he knew this would be our draw that he would have handled things differently up to now. Hell, if he knew we would have BVB next before we played fiorentina he probably would have handled that tie differently. But you know what...he didn't. So you play the game in front of you.

Next season in the CL are we going to field weakened teams in the group stage because we have little chance of winning it? Of course not. So why the fuck did we get this far to essentially give Dortmund a bye into the last 8 of the EL? Ridiculous

The whole tie is over by the looks of it yes, but an early goal and who knows? All I'm saying is just go out there to win the game itself. Show them we can beat them if we bother to play.

I think this game has really split the fans.

For me it's no surprise that after an energetic win over Fiorentina, followed by an energy-sapping comeback against Swansea, we looked tired for most of the Spam game, and for the last 20 minutes against the Gooners. Seeing as high-energy pressing is a massive part of our game (along with key players clearly looking shattered), he had a tough decision to make; take Europe seriously, take the league seriously, or compromise on both.

I believe he made the right decision - it's just painful for a lot of Spurs fans to see the reality of that decision being played out.

We'd have to have played at full strength, and flat out, to get past Dortmund...leading to another couple of tough games (with even more pressure to go all out for the win). Do some fans really not see how that would impact on our league performances? Or have some just given up on the title and the league in general?

For me, this is the first time Poch has 'blinked'

He has realised a lot of players are running on empty and realistically couldn't sustain a challenge on two fronts.

I think for all intents and purposes he wanted to do what we did to Fiorentina, keep it tight away with a weakened team, then make a real match of it in the home tie with all the big guns out.

Although it worked well then, this was superior opposition and the whole approach felt very que sera sera, with us putting an even weaker side out than previously.

Most of all, I think what probably made Poch's mind up were the poor results against West Ham and Arsenal... If we had won them I wouldn't have actually been surprised to see a strong side fielded tonight. Our title challenge isn't look as healthy as it was a week or so ago and our top 4 position is far from cemented.

Fingers crossed we look back at this decision come May and praise it, it may be that we had to sacrifice this to keep the players from completely burning out... We only ever know half the story as fans.

If Pochettino's plan was to keep it tight then why play Carroll, Mason and Onomah in the midfield? Both Carroll and Onomah are lightweights when it comes to making the tackle. Mason is better but not as good as Bentaleb, for example. I don't understand the thinking of the coach here. I wonder what team will be fielded in the second leg.

Let's hope that the team will have a positive reaction on Sunday versus Aston Villa and that confidence has not been too badly shaken.

I am more mad at dodgy ref than anything else. Son had a penalty. Onomah was through before he got chopped down by Hummel. As bad as we played, it could've have been 2-3. What the f was he on?
