After 22 games of this season we were 7 points off Arsenal and Leicester at the top and four points off Man City.

At no time were we ever top of the league throughout the season, we were always playing catch-up and never less than 5 points off Leicester for god knows how long. We've not 'bottled it' or 'choked' because realistically we were never really in the title race, despite us playing at full-throttle for the past four relentless months.

Since gameweek 22 we've put 10 points on Arsenal (and Chelsea), 11 on Manchester City and, for what it's worth, 25 points on Liverpool.

Yes, there's stuff to work on for next year: Draws into wins, holding onto leads, goals conceded from crosses into the box etc. but I reckon we've had a season to be proud of, and a win at home to Southampton will top things off nicely. COYS.

An inability to defend corners cost us the league.

Newcastle, Leicester and West Brom at home, and West Ham and Chelsea away. That's 10 odd points thrown away. And most of those won't even good corners, just terrible defending

very hard to defend corners when they are grappling with our players and Clutterberg doesn't do anything.

though I do agree it needs sorting

Yup I've said all along. Chelsea were so determined today that you just know they would've bent over and let leicester beat them on the last day.

to be honest the way our players went off the rocks, I wander if something was mentioned in the tunnel before kick off, the discipline shown before they even got their 1st, I could see we went a bit OTT and most probably handed them the last game if it went that far.

The funny thing is that you get fans of other clubs laughing at us because we were closest to Leicester but there's just no logic in that. If you're laughing at us you should be laughing at your own club even more.

Gutted, but always thought it was too many points to make up and I think Leicester would have beaten Everton anyway.

Letting a 2-0 goal lead hurts though and too many draws and letting winning positions slip has ultimately cost us this season. Need to be more clinical and work on our in game management next season. Leicetser have been far superior to us in this regard unfortunately.

At least I am £60 richer. Doesn't feel like much consolation at the moment :(.

Yeah you are right I would fucking love it, it's just the irony of getting shit from fans of teams who have vastly underperformed themselves and we've had a fantastic season. I guess it's all banter, but it's hard to take abuse from Arsenal,United, Chelsea, Liverpool fans etc. with the seasons they've been having.

Indeed, I did't really understand/agree what "Echo of Glory" means. Until Today. Really gutted. But we all now in the echo of glory. Really Bright Future ahead.

To be honest, my reaction was to be a bit embarrassed about how we reacted last night (after my red mist had worn off) - I forget how young the side really is and that showed last night. However, I'm sure that in a few days time as the wounds start to heal, I'd probably be pretty happy to pay for a DVD showing in magnificent HD detail how we quite literally smashed Chelsea up.

12 weeks till we start all over again. A couple of buys and let's have this thread open next year. I hope we have learned from our season. With a bit of luck, I think we will challenge next year. For me, Man City will be the ones to catch.

So the title is gone. But we knew there was a slim chance even if we won against chelsea.
But please, please give us 2 place. I would honestly be really happy after all.

The point I'm making is that if Chelsea's players were willing to put in less than 100% effort because they wanted their manager gone, then they're certainly capable of putting in less than 100% effort on the last day of the season if their own fans are wanting them to lose to stop us winning the league.

Well it is now over anyway, but your point is valid and it just shows what a scummy club they are and what scummy players (replace the word players with your own chosen adjective) they have!

It's difficult to say this without it sounding like sour grapes or like the whole world is against us, but I genuinely do think it's tougher for us to achieve our goals than any other side in the league. I realise we all play the same 19 teams, but Arsenal, Chelsea and West Ham all consider us their biggest rivals, at least certainly in this league while most other teams have one big rival in the league at most, save for maybe Liverpool but they walk all over Everton every year anyway. Add to that Southampton having a big grudge against us, a bit of animosity from Stoke and Liverpool not being particularly fond of us, it seems like we have a lot more grudge matches than anyone else.

No chance at all really. We can see now that Chelsea would have scored own goals against L'ster to make sure they won it.
