You make a fair point- but I think you overrate the importance of him not being in the France squad. Looking at the replies to the announcement, many of their fans are pissed right off. Ben Arfa, who's been sensational this season, was also left out of the squad. Most national team managers, unfortunately including England's, make fucking stupid decisions that make no sense. It seems that Lacazette not being in the squad is one of them.
I agree but I don't think he has done enough like Benzema when he left Lyon to go anywhere he wants
But you are ignoring some facets here, an important one being that Lacazette can genuinely play in a number of forward roles and formations. If City switched to a 433 under Guardiola and binned players like Navas, or Chelsea switch to a 532 under Conte, or Wenger realises Lacazette is a massive upgrade as a wide forward on the likes of Walcott, or Klopp decides to offload Sturridge or/and Benteke (and gets CL). Atletico have been playing a two striker system, and their are a couple of other clubs in Spain who'd be very interested (like a Valencia trying to re-establish themselves in the higher order), German clubs like Schalke or Wolfsburg who need new striker blood and have pretty good wage budgets, then there are clubs in England, as much as I hate to say it, like West Ham who will offer big wages and European football and a guaranteed start every week in major league.

I think Lacazette is a hell of a lot more versatile and all the more desirable for it, to a lot more teams.
In the original post, the question was about him being first choice the same could be said about us, we could play him in a 442 like Poch used at southampton

In terms of Germany, Schalke and Wolfsburg the money isn't there as much(premier league is long ahead) and both clubs aren't in the CL this season and Wolfsburg for EL

Atletico have 2 strikers in Veitto and Griezmann, Veitto has been injured but is very good, not to mention they have Torres, Correa and Leo Baptiste. As for Valencia they have bigger issues and havent spent much real money!

In terms of clubs in england, yes Chelsea and Liverpool are strong options as well as Arsenal but they have a lot of talent for the wide berths, so he wont be replacing Walcott but it will depend if they want him to go and play upfront

As for the smaller clubs we should be able to offer them more(not necessarily money) than the small clubs. IMO only chelsea and Liverpool are potential clubs that could offer more but we can offer things they cant like stability. At the moment they have been rumoured to be interested.

Deschamps made some other weird picks as well though. Giroud, Cabaye, and Sissoko (?!). Crazy.

It would be a massive boost to the team if Bentelab, N'jie and Son could be the players we want/expect them to be next season. Like 3 new signings without having to enter the market

Much like Lamela has been this year

I will not write anyone off any more since I have been proven wrong and feasted on humble pie more than once - so even though personally I had pretty much given up on Nabil and N'jie (so soon I know) I will not write either or anyone off again as Lamela shoved that humble pie mercilessly down my throat this season and sets precedent to give benefit of doubt and reasonable time for a player to grow in to the role and show their worth

If Bentelab can make progress this year he is certainly talented enough and capable enough to add some of that essential quality in depth we require in the middle of the park and could roatate with the likes of Dier or Dembele throughout the year successfully I believe

The talents are visible so they will continue to grow and adapt. However I think moving Caroll and probably Mason and upgrade with a quality midfield is critical for next season. We cannot continue to experiment since we have UCL on the schedule.

I believe we will buy a striker and a cm and most likely Michy and Wanyama (not exactly high quality), but I hope we break the bank and get Bazoer....

Where is that guy I had a big argument about whether Dembele signed for Dortmund couple weeks ago. Show up you coward, remember when I said he had signed and you questioned me where are you now?

I remember that you were addament that he was going to Dortmund. When he signed i thought of that exchange you had.

Sissoko is crazy

Cabaye less so, since he has been there for the whole campaign

As for Giroud, he is the number 2 striker for france with Lacazette losing out to Martial rather than Giroud

However the insane one is Gignac

Benzema has been dropped from international footy after the Valbeuna business

Thanks I just read it and deleted the post... (y)

These are the votes from French sports journalist on who they rate.... Lacazette is not that popular and they rate Sissoko ahead of Payet...LMAO

Not really insane as Gignac scored last game, seemed to fit in well and is the closest in terms of style to a Benzema. He's also been on great goalscoring form for a while now in Mexico, and has looked as confident as he's ever been.

They'll probably stick with Giroud initially but it's not clear cut.
