Got a feeling Klopp has heard a few dodgy stories about him from his contacts over in Germany...bad attitude, put on weight etc

Gotze played for Klopp for a number of years at Dortmund. In fact I'm pretty sure it was Klopp that brought him through from the youth ranks into the first team. Not many managers know the player better as both a person and a footballer.

Gotze was adored in Dortmund and was playing superbly well for Klopp which is why Bayern came calling like they did. The BVB fans are naturally incredibly angry about that, hence the animosity towards him now. For whatever reason things didn't work out at Bayern but as brilliant as he may be, I get the impression that Pep is a hard man to please and it wouldn't take much for him to lose faith in a player. Plenty of other class players have sat on the bench under Guardiola's management.

It's clear as day that Poch values character and work ethic. If he believes that Gotze has the necessary qualities for us then I will back him to the hilt in wanting to sign him and I will simply ignore whatever rumours and stories have been put out in the media.

Klopp said in a press conference before the Euro's (paraphrasing) 'If I player is only interested in joining a CL club, then that player is not for us'. It came across that he had been burned too, which would make sense if it was from a player like Gotze who he was fond of. My guess is Liverpool had the deal done in principle, but losing the EL Final ballsed it up. Liverpool then went and signed Mane for big money. I'm pretty confident they won't go back in, and if the Echo is backing that's good for me. Maybe things would change if Coutinho left I guess.

It's probably a shoot out between us and Dortmund, with Dortmund favourites. Juve seem to be closing in on Pjaca (someone I would love us to get). Maybe someone else like Chelsea will come in again on a whim, but I don't think there are many others.

My dream scenario is Atleti coming in for him and selling us Ferreira-Carrasco to make room for him!

I've read a few headlines stating Liverpool are no longer interested, Does anyone know the reason, a few I can think of
1. They no longer have a spot in the squad?
2. They have found out something about him, dodgy knee or something else?
3. He doesn't play for Southampton?

I think if Gotze is available, Klopp will be interested, no matter what the Liverpool Echo says.

If Dortmund buys Schurrle, then they have Reus, Kagawa, Dembele, Pulisic, Mor, Blaszczykowski, Leitner, Schurrle. That's already 8 for 3 positions. They need to sell not buy more, probably Blaszczykowski and Leitner. Really no need for Gotze for them.

I'd also a forth point: we can then close up shop in terms of incomings for this summer and get on with preseason, no fecking around with last minute deals.

booooooooorrrrrrrrrrrrrrring

gotta have some last minute deals, or i might have to go out and do some work

Not suggesting there is any truth in this at all but Shurrie (spelling) is a very good mate of Gotze. With the former now looking as if he is going to Dortmund then imo there could be a good chance that Gotze would also, given the opportunity. Just a thought.

Remember reading somewhere that Reus and PEA had an agreement with the club that if one was sold the other would be allowed to go too.

Gotze is probably the latest in a long line of players (or their agents) using our "interest" to get the deal they want. Although, Schurley going to Dortmund and their fans clearly not wanting Gotze back makes the situation just a little interesting!

That's not fact up for debate, it's a given. That's why I said what I did. There are a lot of stories about him at the minute, too many to just be idle rumour. Theres a very good reason LFC aren't pursuing this & I'd trust Klopp more than most regarding this player to know he's not right. Great talent, but there are issues there!
