Poch doesn't make mistakes with his interviews and he is very calculated.

He expects signings and so should we.

Never expect signings cause there is a good chance you will be disappointed. Don't expect them and if we get one it will be a nice suprise.

Wouldn't surprise me at all if we've identified a young player who could fulfill some of what dembele offers, or at least someone who would be the more progressive of the Cm 2. You have to be opportunistic, so if a young player, on our list etc, is gettable now you make your move.

Tielemans is only 19.

I KNOW I KNOW this belongs in a different thread, but Pochettino is the least calculated media personality we've had since Redknapp. Come to think of it, this IS the right thread considering all the ITK coming straight from Pochettino in the media this days.

I thought all along it was three signings based on the early ITK. So Wanyama, Janssen and a WF/AM seemed about our lot. However, more recent ITK suggested there could be another signing yet to come, probably a CM based on the fact Bentaleb, Mason and Carroll are rumoured to be available. So that'd be 4, which ties in with AliZ's ITK. Always potential the 5th he mentions could be a young project player.
Poch's media comments this morning, suggesting signings (plural) would pretty much confirm that, GKN plus another player. I do wonder if it'll be Malli? Sure someone posted some ITK from another Spurs site that we were in talks, although don't think it was verified.

So, rhetorical question, I just wonder if the 'signing' is GKN, or like everyone else seems to, he is considering that one already done and means there will be another one?

He talks about signings "in the next few weeks", doesn't sound to me as though GKN is the last one, even if it is just poor use of pluralisation.

Although the post from JJ seems to suggest different. Who knows.

I know everyone is getting addicted to transfer rumours and actual transfers, myself included.

But please stop for a second, and think about last year: we signed Toby as an upgrade and a couple of squadplayers. How did that work out? We were on track to 6. Or 7. Place. We got third.

Its definately not certain we will finish top 4 next season, but we really do OWE poch to trust him in what he does.

And we have absolutely no divine right to finish in the top 4, that would be another incredible achievement.

We Are in a place were we finished third last season with the youngest squad and best manager. Others would die to be in our position. And what should a team finishing third with the youngest squad not do? A massive overhaul...

I still Get those who say a "star player" is what we need to show intent. But Its not a must for us...

I wonder how that 'mystery' player from Spain fits into all this...
I've been trying to think who this one could be. I'd guess it'd be a youngster. Either way I don't think any of us in here have a clue and it's best we don't all start guessing random players in here!

I think the next weeks will be huge. We "always" sign somebody in August. Keep in mind we haven't even started on the sales list yet. If few outgoings happen, then yeah we will be restricted. But if many outgoings do happen, I do not doubt that there will be an extra August push for additional signings.

I am asking the same question myself

If he isn't off why has he passed a medical at Marseilles and obtaining a French visa?
It should be patently obvious he is the replacement for Georges-Kevin N'Koudou for the French side and that GKN will join us when Njie gets his visa and joins Marseille.

JJ always knows how to piss on the bonfire of hope :(

Now I've gone from thinking "Great we might be looking to really push on"

To "Oh shit, are they not giving Poch the backing he wants...."

That's because your imagination is getting the better of you, and you(like so many others) are trying to read too much into every scrap of ITK and media speculation.

Not ITK related, but lots of rumours going round this morning that Mourinho is considering selling Timothy Fosu-Mensah.

I must admit I'd be very surprised if that was the case, but if it was, that's a player I think we should go all out (within reason, obviously!) to get.

Still only 18, a ridiculous athlete in every way, good technique, two footed and genuinely capable of playing in multiple positions

I think this kid's a star of the future

I guess we hope that the plural used by Poch in signings was a lingual mistake, and it's not a scenario where he is actually hoping for/expecting a player than isn't going to materialise.

Yes but then last season was quite unique in many ways. Chelsea capitulated and that had a massive bearing. Utd were fairly poor with LVG getting the sack, Arsenal weren't that amazing either for large parts of the season and City also struggled.

This season we are going to see the most money ever spent in the transfer market, along with arguably the two most succesful football managers in recent history taking charge of two of the wealthiest teams in the world.

Then you look at Spurs and realise that we did shite in the domestic cups last season and this season we have the CL which will be much tougher than the EL (which we also didn't do very well in).

If it is the later Pochettino would be gone. He won't be mucked about by Levy or anyone or that is the impression I have of him. He is happy to work within limits agreed at the time of his contract but would be off if something he was promised doesn't happen.
