Funny, when City & Chelsea do it, it's called trying to buy the title. I don't understand why United aren't given the same grief ad City and Chelsea for being moneybags.

Aren't United in like half a billion pound debt, too - or is that a myth? Would assume the latter

I agree with you on this, I don't really get why it's different. All I can think of is how they earned their money. Chelsea and City had rich owners come in and invest in them so kind of sped up them becoming a big team and title winners/challengers. Man Utd essentially worked and earned their way to this level on their own right.
Man Utd were incredibly lucky in that their period of success coincided with the PL's break out into the international market, earning them a massive global fan base. They didn't earn it anymore than Liverpool 10 years earlier, they just profited massively because of the timing.

I think the Glaziers borrowed 1/2 a billion to buy united, hence the debt myth, but I imagine it has been paid back by now.

Oh for sure it's very very lucky when it all happened. Was just the point that their money was earned (however lucky it was) whereas City and Chelsea had to have someone take them over and literally chuck in all that money, City especially as City where a no-one till they had the money.

Again agree with your original point that Man Utd shouldn't be excluded from the whole "buying the title" conversation, just I guess because they made their money fairly (well luckily but still fairly) is why people don't talk of them like that.

They borrowed the money, yes, but they loaded the debt repayments onto united. I believe united have already paid out £700m servicing the debt.

and all the spending will be loaded back on the club...
am not convinced with their purchases as a whole - couple of good ones: MS, Depay but that is an odd looking squad over stocked in some places and thin in others

They won't put up a genuine fight for the title until they sort their defense out.

Hopefully cl will fuck United and they crash and burn. Smug ****s who only attract the worst of the glory supporters.
When I was young I delighted in hearing stories of why a certain people, who were born and raised in London and couldn't find Manchester on a map, supported this aboniation of a club. Usually some tenuously linked family member was from Manchester and was a die hard. Course that's the fucking reason you support them. Couldn't possibly be the glory. Embarrassments.

I've been telling all my United mates and colleagues that they are buying the title. And they most definitely are the smug twats

It's the only way to win it to be fair.

Unless and until the game changes dramatically, the only way to ever win the Premier League will be to buy it.

Last team not to was probably Arsenal unfortunately.

If I was an Arsenal fan I would be very unhappy with not getting closer to Chelsea, there are now no excuses

Yeah they've started throwing around A LOT of cash in recent years. Certainly enough to expect to be much closer than they have been.

I agree I only it say it to them so they don't get anymore smug than they already are and think they are any different in the way they operate to Man C and Chelsea.

But on another note Chelsea and Man C buying titles has broken UTDs dominance because it would have been very difficult to see who would have won any titles other than UTD.

In Arsenals case they are splashing the cash now, but they have done it by building the stadium, paying the debt then reaping the benefit of increased revenues.

LVG has awful player man management, I remember at Barca how he pissed off most of the squad and he's now coming out with shit about Man U squad on regular basis.

Never wanted him in charge of Spurs, even if he does achieve success with Man U I just don't like how he goes about things.

Morgan - went for the money, didn't get to play...now on WBA shopping list
Had he joined Poch would have likely started for France at Euros - merc got what he deserves and we got Eric Dier!

Bit unfair he joined the biggest club in the country and one of the biggest in the world. If any of us were in the same position we would have done the same.
