I wouldn't count on it when they're not in Europe.

They look great, to be fair to them. I am very envious of their pace upfront, and how everyone is busting a gut, but importantly, seemingly on the same wavelength. We look so lethargic by comparison, and keep trying things that just don't come off as the players aren't reading each other.

They seem to have a pretty settled side tho - it's Leicester last season syndrome, whereas the sum becomes greater than the parts through that magical X factor. We're playing different 11s pretty much every game, and often in different positions. All told, we're not doing too badly considering, but most turned up wanting more than that, and I can see why

I'm more impressed/worried with Chelsea than Liverpool TBH
I'm very worried about both right now. The advantage of having fully drilled XI's and a full week between every game cannot be underestimated, and they have much better players than Leicester last season.

Just hope United don't drop out of the EL early and continue to struggle against better sides. We don't need them to drag themselves into the mix as well.

Just watching Football Focus. Kevin Kilbane and Lawro are talking about the Prem. How both can say Spurs are not in the title race is absurd. Kilbane has just mentioned that United are. Neither think we'll finish in the top 4. How are we still overlooked?

Very few of the pundits do any research whatsoever. They just trot out the same boring rubbish week after week as if they haven't seen any games.

For example, Charlie Nicholas says this about Alexis Sanchez:
Saying that, Sanchez is a top-class player but he's got no divine right to just stand out wide and expect everybody to pass to him. I don't know what is going on with him - I think he needs telling and if he doesn't change he needs selling. This team has helped make him a star and he needs to show some appreciation rather than throwing tantrums.

That is the same Alexis Sanchez they signed from Barcelona. If anything, Udinese made him a star. Except they are a team he doesn't know in a league he doesn't watch, so it's all down to Arsenal.

Lawrenson's bitterness was palpable. What a twat.

Prefer it when they're overlooking us tbh. Since when were pundits' predictions ever right though anyway?

... and their common narrative about Wednesday was that Spurs were fortunate to catch Chelsea on an off day, and that they were both confident that Conte will simply correct the fault at his next coaching session and allow Chelsea to resume their inevitable charge to the title. (They chose to overlook the fact that Chelsea have rarely won any of their recent matches by more than a single goal, had been given a tough time at home by the mighty Stoke City in their previous match!)

Everyone on the Guardian football weekly pod had us finishing in the top 4.
Yeah I listened to it today. One of the reasons I always listen to that pod is that they pretty much always get my sentiments about Spurs bang on. Even the pundits who are openly Gooners.

They had nothing but praise for Poch, and never once mentioned that "Chelsea had an off day and Conte will correct this". It's so obvious that these guys are all writers and bloggers rather than ex-players, their opinions are much more informative and coherent.

Every week for years now, the Soccer Saturday panel make the following claims:
  • Tottenham Hotspur are a selling club
  • We need money for the new stadium
  • We will therefore soon sell one of our best players
Merson claimed that if someone bids £60-70m this summer for Alli, we'll sell him.

They can never be positive about us. Don't they realise that they've said the same about a plethora of player for such a long time, with nothing actually coming to fruition.l

It's just Shouty-man-in-the-pub-TV. The panel needs freshening up with people who actually know what they are talking about, instead of those Sky took pity on to give them something to do.

I wish they'd let some writers and bloggers on rather than fill it up with ex-players. Even the most biased professional writers are better than Merson and Nicholls.

You may never have seen it, but in the 90s, Channel 4 had Italian Football with James Richardson and it was excellent. He did a round up show, too. I think he's on BT now (not sure). But BT have gone down the shouty route with Robbie Savage. Someone put it to me on twitter this evening that media seems to be one of the few industries which gets worse when there is more competition. Everyone just sinks down to the low standards of the others instead of trying to be better. Don't the viewing public want better for their increasing fees?

Jimbo hosts The Guardian Football Weekly as well, such a great host. I've heard good things about BT's Euro Football Show which he hosts too.

What pissed me off is that Jeff Stelling just outright stated before any discussion that 'We know Tottenham are a selling club', when the last time we sold a top player was fucking 2013. Twat.

Please stop getting wound up by these pillocks. We all know there is an agenda, Man Ure, Chavski, Ar5ena1, Liverpool and more recently Man Citeh are SKY's biggest tv draws globally, so dont get angry, get fucking smug when we spoil the party!! (y)
