We don't need a send off because we're not going anywhere. We're mainly upgrading a bunch of stands from the 80's and 90's.

Ok, in fairness, the east stand is old and historic. but the stadium has been razed and reborn dozens of times, and I'm not looking on this time as anything more than the most comprehensive remodelling in a long line.

This is just IMO. I know many feel differently and I completely respect that. I do hold this opinion pretty strongly though.

I agree with you

I've been going to WHL most weeks apart from the cricket season since about 1974 and remember most of A&C's great highlights etc etc

For me with the ground moving 100 yards means it's just a huge makeover. It'll still be exactly the same journey from home or work and the same walk from the tube/car/pub

Maybe I'm just a killjoy or I don't like a lot of fuss but I'm not worried if the old WHL doesn't get an amazing send off

I'd prefer it if the new WHL gets top billing. That will after all be our new home and where The Spurs will move forward into a new exciting dawn

I know what you mean, but it will still be an end of an era. All the people I've sat around for 15 years will be split up, and even though strangely I still don't know half of their names it simply wont be the same again.

Come on mate you can't stand most of them. Especially that bloke who's always checking his phone or the one always moaning about Walker or that other bloke who always sings out of tune

As for the guy that always shouts back door back door, unload him unload him....

Don't even start about the guy at the end of the aisle that never stands up when you need a piss on the 27th minute

Shared many of the above memories. Genuinely laughed out loud at some.
The only part of the stadium that remains from my first visit is the once quite beautiful Archibald Leitch East stand.
For me, I sort of said goodbye to the old stadium when they made it all seater.
Yes, there have been many great moments since but not in the same league as when it was terraced. I try to explain it to my sons but they'll never get the chance to experience the Shelf proper (I can't even refer to it as such now because the Shelf is boxes now).
Still, I'm still going to miss the old place. Actually I'm getting quite emotional just typing this.

I understand that, it's not the same ground it was when I first went other than the east stand as you say. I am happy that we are building on the same site too but I know it'll get to me right at the end.

Since I only moved to London in 2009, I regret that I never got the chance to make the ground as much a part of my life as it is for most of you. In the best part of the last decade though, I've done my damnedest to go as often as possible. From the last 7 years I will miss those oh so special European nights, under the lights. Gareth Bale and AC Milan, Rafa and Inter, Fiorentina, Lamela's rabona... the emergence of Kane. Singing "'Arry we want you to stay". Ledley's testimonial.

I've been to grounds like St James Park, and despite 60k Geordies, the noise a fully rocking WHL makes on nights' like the ones I mentioned is incomparable. It's just a wall of sound, bearing down on the pitch. If I have one concern about the new stadium, it's that it'll lose that ability to generate that sort of atmosphere.

A big send off is inevitable, and it'll be an emotional occasion. But if I miss the final games, I'm not going to be too upset when getting my season ticket for the new stadium.

For me the send off should be a little like the 125 anniversary night. Loads of flags in the crowd, loads of our greatest players on the pitch, and get Adele to add some star power and do a little set, followed by a Chas and Dave knees up sing a long.

And hopefully not drawing 4-4 with Villa...

I feel like I should apolgise for sort of hijacking this thread by inserting memories of times past.

Another memory I have is the night games and noticing the steady plumes of cigarette smoke rising above all the
stands and the matches and lighters flicking their flames.

A different time.

I've seen a fair few matches at the Lane from my season ticket days and since, I have managed to get along only once this season and am hoping to squeeze in a couple more, subject to ballot. But a few of my best memories weren't because of the games themselves...

Bill Nicholson Testimonial.
I'm too young to have been there in the 60s (80s child) but I my Tottenham emotions are tied to the great man. I remember where I was when I heard that he'd died and I am so lucky to have been able to go to the Fiorentina testimonial. I just wish he was around to see us beginning to recapture the Tottenham that he believed in.

Ledley King Testimonial.
As close as one could get to a Bill Nicholson type in the modern era. Totally different personality but iconic nonetheless.

125 Anniversary vs Villa.
The football was average the 4th goal was exciting, but the sea of flags before the game was awe inspiring. We tried it again at Wembley in 2008, but that moment and the connection I felt with 36,000 other humans was exceptional.

On top of that, moments like wins against Chelsea and Arsenal over the last few years stick in the memory.

I am going to miss the place intensely when it's gone, even when I am watching games on TV, but I genuinely believe that what we are replacing it with is the best possible outcome we could have achieved.

I'm trying to find a large, framed panorama of the ground to hang on my wall but the official shop seems to not have any such things. I find that quite odd - you'd think they'd be able to make a killing off them this season.

I have one my gran randomly found at a car boot sell. Taken during a match, against West Ham and looks to be about 10 years ago. Sure there's others floating around eBay and the like.

The best possible send off we can give the old girl is going unbeaten all season but especially smashing those pricks down the road. The atmosphere for that will be incredible. Enough to tear down the place itself
