It's very difficult for players like Davies and Tripps to simply turn in top performances once every now and again - it can be months sometinmes before they have actually played a competitve game - Both do an adequate job when called upon imo

Both Davies and Trippier offer something Walker and Rose - Trippier is an excellent crosser of the ball, while I feel Davies is a better technical player of the ball than Rose. Physically, Kyle and Danny are head shoulders ahead.

I can see there being an argument for one of Davies or Trippier to play against teams likely to sit deep, as their skills are more suited to games when there is no space to attack. However, without true wingers ahead of them you do need the pace of a Walker or Rose to give us that directness at times.

Thought Ben did well yesterday, looks better with a few games under his belt.

I think that Davies offers good cover at left centre back and at full back but if we are to continue with wing backs then he just isn't dynamic enough. I would keep him for next season but also try to sign Sessegnon and give him plenty of time to establish himself in the EPL.

I'm not a Davies fan, but i think he did fine yesterday. Must be tough covering for Rose, being a completely different type of defender, yet being judged by the same yardstick we use for Danny.

Davies is not a technical better player than Rose. I think his technical ability is over rated and Rose's is under rated.

I also am not a Davies fan, never have been and I doubt I ever will. I was probably the only one who was not enthused with him coming from Swansea. He may have had fine game yesterday (I personally didn't think so) but this should be the norm and not occasionally as it is at the moment.

Davies is a squad player and I disagree with those who say he would walk into most EPL sides, rubbish. While I accept that we cannot have a back up close to the caliber of Rose, I think we can have a better cover than Davies. The variance when comparing Rose to Davies is much wider when comparing Walker to Trippier. Also for those who argues that he is an International Player, so are most in the EPL.

I am not a fan but as long as he wears our shirt he will always have my support. I compare him to Tom Carroll another of whom I was never a fan but supported while he played for us but was not sorry when he left.

Him defending in the penalty area yesterday, while adjusting and patting down his hair did it for me.

Davies - good defender (when protected and not up against raw pace), but a weak attacker.

Reckon he'd do quite well as the left sided CB in a three man defence. But I can't wait for Rose to be fit.

Doesn't sound like you support him at all tbh.

What better back up could we sign and who has a better back up than him in the EPL?

Your opinion of course, but I will always support and cheer who ever puts on our shirt and play for us. Whether I rate them or not is another matter.

What a stupid question. I did credit you with more intellect, my bad

I only ask as you're in Toronto and if you don't get to games then all the cheering you are or aren't doing is on here which is a bit different, no?

When you say Davies is a 'better technical player', are you referring to dribbling ability? If you are, what you have said is a bizarre statement IMO as Rose is a great dribbler and arguably one of the best in our squad.

Which PL sides would Davies not get into?

Thats one of my problems with Davies. We should not have to adjust our game in order to protect him if he was a "credible" back up. Against Middlesbro we had to more or less pull Dembele out of position in order to protect Davies from Traore. It worked as Davies played more freely but should have been able to in the place, without limiting Dembele's play

Look, Davies is ours and will support him as long he plays for us, I will even ask him for a signed autograph! But..... he is one that does not cut it for me as I am sure you all have players that do not cut it for you. No amount of neg reps, stupid or spiteful retorts is going to change that. It is what it is

No, I think Rose is a more powerful and overall more proficient dribbler. The technical terms I mean are accuracy in passer, ability to pick a pass, general finesse on the ball. I want Rose bombing forward, whip in low crosses and spanking shots in. I want Davies to be part on intricate passing moves, working triangles and playing slide rule balls in and scoring with goals like his one against Villa - nice little touch that puts the ball in the exact spot he wanted to it.

Rose is still very good even against teams sat deep, cutting off the space and not letting him run at them. His physicality creates openings when he is one on one with someone, but I feel the one thing Davies can do is be part of a three, four, five man, 20 pass move type thing
