alot about most but if someones not fit to wear the shirt i'll say something about it, and he clearly isn't
That's an awful insult. He's a young player (Welsh international and they missed him when he was suspended in the Euro semi-final) that has never failed to have full commitment when he has played. We signed him and that coincided with a massive leap in Rose's form. Davies has never whinged, moaned or caused trouble and has always spoken of the team first.
A "player that's not fit to wear the shirt" is, to me, saying something about their attitude or behaviour, certainly not a young professional like Ben Davies.

It just irks me when some one uses the "International" to justify why a player should be considered good or world class. Sissoko is a French international, need I say any more?

I agree with your assessment of his attributes, but these same attributes can be applied to any average player. But to end the argument while I agree that @DanielJohnCosta comments was derogatory, I still believe that unless he improves and catches up, I think the club has out grown him, as it did with Tom Carroll.

Thought he did well against Stoke. Looks better probably because he's a had a little run of games. Does help players perform better once they get used to the team, especially if it's in a position they don't usually play.

I know what you mean. I'm from Belfast so you can be an international over here with a few functioning limbs but Davies actually starred for Wales in the Euros. He's very capable of developing into a fine player - do you remember the vitriol aimed at Danny Rose a few seasons ago?

Davies was actually better offensively than Rose last season up until february or thereabouts. Up until then, the Rose MO would be to get up the pitch and try to whack the ball in the space between the keeper and defence. At all times. Very easy to read, and it's generally the space that all deep lying teams tend to drop into.

Davies would overlap, underlap, try cut backs and vary his approach more. He was better at attacking deep lying teams. Then Rose made his leap in quality, and is now better in all aspects. Doesn't make Davies bad.

I mentioned this earlier, but even though Davies isn't hasn't been as good this season as he was last season, he's now at the age Rose was when he signed his fve year contract before the 14/15 season. Maybe Davies also has the potential get better than he's now?

I think that Jan is more dynamic in attack than Davies, so why not play Davies as the more defensive LCB with Jan as the wing back? Must be worth a try until Danny is back.

Jan is just coming back from injury, I don't think he will be fit enough to play in the most labour intensive position in the team. He is also doing a great job of bringing the ball out from the back at the moment we'd lose that if Davies goes in a CB.

For me its impossible to compare Davies and Rose. Rose is the most improved footballer Ive ever seen at THFC. For Davies to improve as a player as much as Rose had would be miraculous and unfair.

Yes, he was but it wasn't utilized as it should, that is my problem playing him in that position

I could live with that as I prefer Davies as LB or CB (in a back 3) rather than a LF

I dont know why but this made feel sorry for Davies

He's been rooted to the bench most of the season, of course he's going to be out of form for a few games. Now that he has had a run of starts he looks good. It's not rocket science.

Should he be sold (I hope not) his price must have doubled after this display today He really deserved it after all the flak - often deservedly so - he's got this season.

Got raped by Mane a few weeks back but playing very well now, working a lot better in the back 5

Agree on both points. Think his confidence took an absolute hammering and was clear during the Europa game that his first instinct was to play it safe. Last two games he's looked like the player who kept Rose out of the side when Poch joined. If we could get someone like Seasegnon to be Rose's back up, or a very large fee, I won't be gutted to see him in our squad next season. He's largely dependable if not exciting, and his covering of LCB in a back three is valuable

He was better today.

Unfortunately, in terms of a 'good enough' 2nd XI player to step in, I think Davies, Janssen and Sissoko remain weak links.

Either they improve or we replace if we are to challenge on two+ fronts.

Some iffy passing in the first 20 minutes, but worked very hard for the team and put a shift in. A bit disappointed that he didn't do more against Coleman when the latter started attacking after about 65 minutes though.
