Here's our record this season against quality opposition away from White Hart Lane in road or neutral venue fixtures:

Everton-Draw

West Brom-Draw

Liverpool (Carling Cup)-Loss

Arsenal-Draw

Monaco-Loss

Chelsea-Loss

Manchester United-Loss

Manchester City-Draw

Liverpool-Loss

Gent-Loss

Leverkusen-Draw

Chelsea (FA Cup)-Loss

This is much more than a Wembley issue (though I could've added two more losses to Leverkusen and Monaco at Wembley to the above list). We simply struggle against good teams outside of White Hart Lane. Whether that's a tactical issue, a squad depth issue, or something else, it's been a major hinderance keeping this team from achieving trophies the last two seasons when they've been one of the best first XI's in all of Europe.
This team can play anywhere. The only team that took real advantage of us in the Wembley spaces was Monaco, and that was because we went a silly goal behind, and because they're one of the best attacking forces in Europe, and we were one of the first to learn it!

We're going to move into the new WHL, it won't be the old ground. The pitch will be bigger, the stadium will be bigger and different, and we're going to have to get used to it. We'll have to play at Wembley for key domestic semis and finals if we're successful going forward. We have to adjust. I agree with you that that may involve tactical and squad adjustments.

We totally bossed the 'best' team in the country yesterday. 7 times out of 10 we'd win that game playing that well. Was it shameful to lose to Monaco at Wembley with hindsight of how good a team they are? Bring on Wembley and bring on our world class new stadium the year after. Embrace the progress!

Next season I think we will have a great opportunity to win the league - if we stay at WHL. It will take time to make the new stadium a fortress, and Wembley will never be, that means this group of players should be given an extra season at the Lane, just to take the title home before we go.

Exactly this. I don't think even the great PL teams of the past could win without a settled home. Really unfortunate timing of such a positive thing. If we fail this year then I just hope we can hang onto Potch so we can rebuild to go again in a few years.

dreading it next year but the act of blaming Wembley is very spursy in itself

To be honest it's not that I want to blame Wembley but for whatever reason we don't perform greatly there or more so we can't replicate the football we like to play there. Whether that's down to us mentally or the attributes of the Wembley pitch I don't know but either one doesn't change the fact that Wembley is an issue. Not saying it should be the case but it's just the way it is.

Even yesterday, I thought we were good and the better side but something was missing from our performance still. We couldn't get Kane greatly into the game, couldn't use the flanks effectively and to me it just felt like it was a bit of a struggle to get a goal or create. Our two came from an unreal header from Kane, a goal he had no right to score really and a fantastic bit of individual brilliance from Eriksen with the assist. I guess the flip side to that is that there are other factors that can contribute to that but it's been like that in all the other games we've played there too.

Last season we were actually the team with the second best away form in the league

We are punching above our weight now and could easily be 5th again next year wherever we play. Important we get that new stadium and increase in revenues a.s.a.p.

We have the best starting 11 in the league yet we're punching above our weight?
All this we need increased revenue makes no sense any more. Sure we need it to make sure none of this group leaves. We spent £60m on Sissoko, Janssen and NKoudou though. If everyone was fit could have them 3 plus Lamela and Son on bench. That's a £110m bench spend. Think it's more relevant to not waste what money we have.

This excuse that we don't spend hundreds of millions so have no right to compete is absurd now. Look at our team and tell me that team shouldn't be competing. If Levy said here you go Poch here's £100m go improve that starting 11 who the hell is he gonna buy to do that? The team is perfection.

Still say Wembley. Play there as much as possible so we can start fucking winning there. If we cant start winning there you can kiss any domestic cup good bye.

The point of the whole punching above our weight line is so people feel better about themselves whenever we inevitably spurs it up. So they always act like we dont belong there instead of being upset

They mentioned it on BBC but surely one thing we'd do is make sure dimensions of pitch are identical to WHL. I'd imagine we train on a pitch with identical size. Sounds stupid but little things like this do make a difference, if you're drilled week in week out on a certain size pitch, a few extra meters here and there can disrupt way you play.

The dimensions at the new stadium will be equal to that of Wembley. UEFA standards, i believe. We should change the size of the training pitch to mirror those dimensions.

We have a pitch at the training centre the size of Wembley. Rubbish excuse blaming the pitch

All pitches have to be 105x68 now unless you literally can't meet it due to your stadium. Wembley is 105x68, as will be our new stadium. Our current pitch is 100x67. It's not that big a deal.

Just play at Wembley and learn to deal with it.

It wasn't anything to do with being at Wembley that we lost yesterday anyway. In fact the one really positive thing was that most of the players looked totally at home there. The mistakes that cost the game were nothing to do with Wembley.

We'll be fine, and it will do us good.

I fucking hate Wembley. Leaving aside the fact that it's clearly built on ancient Jewish burial ground, it's just an overrated, shit stadium.

If I had my way we'd play our home games next season anywhere but there. Too late now, we've just got to sort it out, I guess, but I'm not overly optimistic for next year. We're gunna have to have some amazing away form to compensate for the inevitable downturn in results at Wembley next year.

Absolutely. The only slight tweak we might need to make is that Hugo might need to position himself slightly further forward in terms of sweeping up.

Unfortunately, despite good traffic and everything running smoothly yesterday, I'm now certain that Wembley is a complete ball ache for me. I live in Norwich (so not far from London) yet didn't get home from the match until 10:50pm!

Any other East Anglians have a superior alternative to parking at Epping and getting the tube in?

It really isn't the pitch, it's the fact that it will never be a' Home' ground/venue for anyone. It is a much bigger issue now coming off such a fantastic season at WHL.

We are punching massively above our weight financially, and I am surprised you do not understand that in the context of my post and the post I was responding too (saying we should delay the new stadium by a year). Man C and Man U could easily both go and spend £200M on 2 or 3 world superstars this summer. So could Chelsea. We pay our players between £50k and £100k per week. Our rivals pay theirs pay theirs £150k-£300k. Even if we keep this team together for another year or two, and we will have challenges as we have massive stadium debts to service, the other top teams will improve. Greatly. Why delay doubling our match day revenues when money talks in this league? Personally, I want us to keep this team together for the next 5 years, and Poch to manage them to glory, supplemented by at least one new world class addition per summer. To do any of those three things we need greater revenues a.s.a.p. Expect bids worth £150M+ for Kane and Alli this summer. Expect them to be offered £300k per week. The biggest reason for staying with us is Poch and the new stadium. Why delay it?
