That's great but what was he asked prior to that quote? I mean it's not like he walked up to a reporter and said...
" Hey you know who would be good for Barca?"..... "Eriksen!"
I don't know what question he was asked?

Which question, to your mind, would render my observation moot?

This is the original article in Ekstra Bladet, which is a "Danish tabloid newspaper focusing on sensationalist news and political revelations" - Wikipedia

Death to Xavi.

It's not really funny because again the media are twisting his quotes. It really is getting to the stage where you can't really believe anything that's reported unless you see the words actually spoken.

Here's a different slant on the words Poch used about Xavi which show that he was joking while other papers have reported it as fact.

http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/...r-city-xavi-mauricio-pochettino-a7702171.html

Pochettino said, half-jokingly, that Xavi was his “enemy” from when the two of them were on opposite sides of the Barcelona/Espanyol divide

Pochettino insisted that he was not familiar with Xavi’s comments, but speculated that he was trying to help out Guardiola ahead of a busy summer. “I don’t know what Xavi said,” Pochettino wondered, “he is working for Manchester City, maybe? He wants to help Guardiola.”

Pochettino is never happier than when telling anecdotes from earlier in his career, and he particularly loves ones involving foul play and subterfuge. Jokingly trying to paint Xavi as dishonest, he remembered how the little midfielder bought a crucial penalty for a 1-0 win over Pochettino’s Espanyol in December 2009.

“Yesterday Thierry Henry was here, and we remembered that game because he [Xavi] cheated the referee,” Pochettino said. “He fell down, it wasn’t a penalty, but [Zlatan] Ibrahimovic scored for Barcelona and they won the game 1-0. I remember, it was a wide free-kick, the marking man was Raul Baena. Xavi fell down and said ‘penalty’, they gave a penalty. I remember always Xavi for that decision. “

What especially annoyed Pochettino was the fact that Xavi did not admit his trickery afterwards. “After it was very funny,” Pochetino said. “Because no one touched him. And in the media, he said, ‘no, no, I promise, it was a penalty’. Come on! It goes from lie to lie to lie.”

I certainly cannot see levy agreeing to sell any player to a Prem league club.
That rules out alot of the media rumours for me.

The Dele to city one was put down anyway recently, stating Pep knew Spurs would not sell to PL rivals/deal was too difficult

"Ajax have produced a lot of players who have gone on to play for Barca, who could be next in your opinion"?

He's a ****. Poch says he's a cheat.

I think most clubs know that it's going to take £100m plus to prize away Alli which I think will put them off for a season or 2 at least. Especially as I can't see Alli forcing through a move anytime soon.
Good point and he seems to be enjoying his role and rise at Spurs so hopefully won't pull any shennadigans any time soon either

Exactly. I wish our fans wouldn't keep falling for the media spin on this. We won't be selling to our rivals in the Premier League. It makes zero sense to. I think these words say all that needs to be said on that:

"My relationship with Daniel Levy is so close. The good thing is we have the plan to try to improve. And we will deliver it when we finish the season. Like I told you, the players that we want to keep, we will keep. Because he said to me ‘we don’t need money’. If we sell some players it is because we want to sell some players.”

Levy realises he may tarnish his relationship with poch if he starts strengthening our rivals. He spent a long time looking for a manager he could trust so I'm sure he'll think about this double jeaporady closely and want to avoid it

Take this with a large pinch of salt as I did, but a fellow ST holder who sits near me in the East Lower goes in the prawn sandwich brigade and the players lounge from time to time. Said he actually spoke to Alli in the players lounge and Alli said he's not looking to leave at the moment and Madrid is the only club he'd consider leaving for.

Nothing earth shattering, but Madrid coming in with a record bid is the one I'm dreading. Let's hope they are looking elsewhere.

While I don't believe in any of these rumours & ignore them, what I hope doesn't happen is one or few of our players head getting turned by the agents. We have to finish the season stronger & be as close to Chelsea as possible, so atleast from a season narrative perspective, it has to be seen that players are fighting for a cause and title is not far off . That trust & belief has to come to the fans first, then media. Once that happens, some of these stupid rumours will fall away. If we have a ending similar to last season, I am afraid the rumour train will gather pace & probably derail the summer window for us.

Every thing I have see from the team since last season, that capitulation is not going to happen in the PL. I hope we finish stronger & give no reason for some of the players to even think of leaving Spurs.

It'd be nice if, for once, they fuck off somewhere else like, say, Chelsea and Hazard.

Sorry but I refuse to believe one of our players would say to some bloke in the players lounge that he would consider leaving for Real Madrid. I call bullshit.

It's bloody brilliant, it deserves a place in the RO just on its comedy value alone.

Yeah, that's exactly what I thought and I didn't take much notice, but this bloke has sat near me for a decade and has no reason to make something up just for the hell of it. He also knows a few ex players through business contacts etc.

Tbh, Madrid have always been the ones to worry about for obvious reasons.
