R9 Destroying world class defenders......

I think there are 5 forwards to have played the game who you can make a case for being the best of all time.

Pele
Maradona
Ronaldo
Ronaldo 2
Messi

I'd say Ronaldo would have scored at the same or a higher rate if he'd played in any era and if he didn't have injury problems he would have scored maybe another 100+ goals. My vote will always go to Ronaldo as he could do anything the others on the list could do although you could probably say the same for most of them.

This is going to sound stupid but I'm going to run with it.

Watching that Video you can see a lot of what Dele Alli does in Ronaldo. The constant touching of the ball and shifting of weight, the penchant for a nutmeg, keeping the ball close to his body etc.

I love that man.

I remember a rare moment when the Daily Mirror actually got one of their sensationalist stories right. Ronaldo was 17 and going to the '94 World Cup, and the Mirror ran a story on him being the next Pele. Of course he didn't play in that tournament, but I guess a hack randomly stabbing away in the dark was bound to hit home at some point.

The way he came back from France to be the top scorer, winning scorer, and World Cup winner was incredible.

As much as I love him and the fact that he shits all over fake Ronaldo, he wasn't as good as Messi. Nobody is.

Generational assessment I guess made from whom you saw play when you were old enough to appreciate them. Maradona for me.

I'm old enough to remember Maradona. I'd still say Messi as he's doing it week in and week out against a generally higher quality of opponent, but there really isn't much between them.

The Nesta take on 3:20 was my favourite. Wowzer

I remember watching that match, uefa cup final. At this times whoever Ronaldo played for I wanted to win but when I saw him do that flip flap it was something I'd never seen before and I really couldn't understand what he done. I recorded it on VHS and must have watched it like a hundred times and tried to copy it.

Also he sat the keeper down without even touching the ball, just a double body feint and he was down for the count. So good one on one with the keeper.

Best player that I have seen and only the new Ronaldo has come close to matching his achievements

Best thing about Ronaldo is the amount of times he could have easily gone down to win a pen/free kick but as so much confidence in his ability he knows if he stays on his feet he's going to score.

Bloody amazing

How many of them would've seen a player go flying now? All he wants is the ball at his feet or in the net, diving wasn't even an option, what a class act.

Such a shame to think we'll probably never see that combination of pace, power, dribbling ability, finishing and composure again

There's no strikers since him that have come close to being on his level imo, that pace, power, unbelievable dribbling ability like a winger, finishing with either foot, just a ridiculous player, and done it in numerous leagues as well.

I do love the real Ronaldo. Still think Messi eclipses him by some distance, and certainly eclipses that selfish greasy fuck-nugget at Madrid.
