Someone's got to start it:

Manchester City are growing increasingly confident of signing Tottenham defender Kyle Walker this summer, sources close to the club have told ESPN FC.

England international Walker is among City's top targets this summer with City boss Pep Guardiola a big fan of the attacking right-back.

City are in the market for a new right-back this summer following the departures of Pablo Zabaleta and Bacary Sagna at the end of the season.

Guardiola has used Jesus Navas and Fernandinho at right-back this season and the signing of Walker would go a long way to resolving the club's issues in that position.

Chelsea, Manchester United and Bayern Munich have been credited with an interest in Walker, but sources have told ESPN FC that City feel they are in pole position for the defender.

Tottenham are reluctantly considering cashing in on Walker this summer as they feel they have a ready-made replacement in Kieran Trippier.

Tripper started in front of Walker for Tottenham at the back end of the season in a sign that the club are preparing for life without the 26-year-old.

Walker, who posted a thank-you message to Spurs fans on his official Instagram account on Thursday, signed a new deal until 2021 last September at Tottenham and Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is expected to drive a hard bargain if City are to secure his signature.

However, City are determined to bring Walker to the Etihad Stadium this summer as Guardiola looks to build a squad capable of winning the Premier League title next season and they are ready to pay a fee in the region of £45million.

Worth pointing out that whilst many of us are rightly incensed about the possibility of us strengthening our rivals, some City fans are equally pissed off about them potentially handing us £40-50m to spend.

Not alot to say really on the Walker front if all is to be believed.

Nothing can be done about Bernado Silver either because, and I reckon someone will correct me if I am wrong, I think his agent is Mendes and I could have sworn there was some itk saying Spurs/Levy will not deal with him.

Hopefully the money Spurs extract from the transfer is put to good use!

We better spend it.

I'll be fucking livid if we head into the new season with Trippier as our only recognised FB/WB

Not if we spend it on another Sissoko they won't be.

That would truly be be a Robbie Savege esq 'I want to move nearer my family' move

Who cares? If he wants to leave and thinks he has a better offer somewhere else then good luck to him. Get a good price for him and replace him.

Blue Moon today:

I will clap him as I do with anyone who pulls on our shirt but he's a grade A arsehole, he will either change how he is away from the pitch or won't be here the season after next! If Pep thinks Hart is a naughty boy wait for this lad.

Walker called us glory hunters on Twitter a couple of years ago. I'll support him on the pitch though he does seem an arsehole!

Please God no.Bang average and brainless. If Pep signs this guy I really will start to wonder about him.

Well he's done quite well for a bang average and brainless player. International and the best right back in the Premier League as voted by his fellow professionals. Contrarian opinions are only significant if you can explain yourself

Firstly, I don't think we should be paying the kind of fee that's being talked about, is it £50m ? especially to one of our main rivals ? Secondly, by bang average I mean exactly that, bang average ! His technique is poor, his decision making is poor and in my opinion he will be a poor signing at the kind of price we are talking about. He is not what I call an intelligent footballer. Being an England international is not really much of a confirmation of your ability in my opinion, as England are also 'bang average' and have been for 50 years ! If he comes, I hope I am wrong but I don't think he will suit our style of play and I think Pep would be making a mistake.

We won't be able to sign a better right back. Will be amazing to have a full back who can run and will make our attack even more lethal. Would be a great start to the window.

Strong rumours that Walker will be announced today- Link City Watch

Walker dissed us a few seasons ago and is a t***. No from me and I don't want Rose either.

He's invisible to linesmen so it's a yes from me.

the way he acted in south korea and in hong kong does not look like an unhappy player who is desperate to leave. if he really has some problems with poch, i hope they will sit down and have a chat to sort it out.

Exactly, just not seeing a guy that's looking to force a move. If anyone's agitating for a move, I think it's probably an agent as opposed to the player.

I still think there's legs in this, as I think it's a mutual situation. But in that case it could possibly be resolved if all parties (walker, poch and levy) can iron things out.

From piecing various things together this is my take on the siuation:-

1) Walker was pissed off with missing some huge games towards the end of the season

2) Poch has had clashes with Walker before over fitness and doesn't believe he can play more than once a week.

3) The offer from City is huge for Walker and one to consider, especially if he feels undervalued or has fallen out with Poch.

4) There has been a 'meeting' between the two that didn't end happily ever after. Poch is not known to suffer fools.

5) The money on offer for Walks is also a head turner for the club, especially if Poch thinks he is disposable. As mentioned they could potentially bring in a replacement and an extra player with those funds.

6) There was definitely a wobble where he let it all affect him, at a key part of the season, and this would not have not gone down well with Levy. However he has seemed to knuckle down since then and has been exemplary on tour. Maybe they could resolve things?

Gut feeling is he's gone and he's showing respect to the fans with his latest social media, especially as it seems he is not meeting a ton of resistance like a Berba or Keane and therefore is keen to avoid being brandished as such.

I'd like to see them patch things up for continuity however I think the fact most parties seem to be in agreement leads to one natural outcome.
