It's not really an issue of him 'replacing' anyone. It's a squad game and we need to strengthen ours.

For me Barkley works very well because he's a bit like a mix between Eriksen and Dele. He's not as good a passer/chance creator as Eriksen, and not as good a goal-getter as Dele, but he's probably a better goal-getter than Eriksen and a better passer/chance creator than Dele.

Not a bad three to choose from certainly.

I'm not against it just don't think he is the difference we need. A fit Lamela would probably offer more, Son definitely does and then I think we just need options to change games and play different systems and I don't think he really fits in that sense. Someone with direct attacking pace should be the priority for that kind of money.

I think a fit Lamela is a lot to hope for at the moment, although I do agree that if he's available, then the need for Barkley becomes a lot less.

I also agree that we need someone with pace, but I don't think that should be instead of Barkley but as well as.

If we're to properly compete in all competitions we need depth all over the pitch. That's why we're looking at Barkley.

In Poch we trust but £40m or whatever it's likely to be :~[

I think we'll get him but doubt it will be a quick transfer. We probably know it's only us and the spammers in for him so we'll sit tight safe in the knowledge he'll hold out for a move to us and the longer it goes on the more chance there is of Everton taking a lower fee. Classic Levy.

*although if we seriously interested in him i would rather get in done now so Poch can have a pre-season with him.

Going to Arsenal won't improve him as a player coming to us will so we will see what his priorities are.

With only a year left on his contract I'd be surprised if it's that high.

Although stupidly 40m isn't that daft an amount of money these days. If you consider that fees of around 25m were being talked about for Troy Deeney, you can see the sort of world we live in.

Placing a bit of pressure on us imo. Neither ourselves or the goons are going to pay more for him than whatever the going rate is. Wages a different matter.

If they bid say 35m, you really think we will? I don't think so.
No I think the exact opposite, they can bid more probably on wages too and we will make him a better player so if his priority is money he'll go there if it's football he'll come to us.

Not as simple as that. Everton still have his contract.

Interesting info in the thread on the Everton forum, actually. Talk about Arsenal (as we know), talk about Everton considering playing serious hard ball even if the contract has 12 months left, and talk about Spurs being only lukewarm and not super hot on him. If I were to hazard a guess, I don't think he'll end up at Spurs.
